The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 609

Leonardo and Lucien Dupont, the gallery director, stepped out of the meeting room. Lucien, dressed in a black suit with a fedora and carrying a black cane, was introduced to Madelyn by Leonardo. Taking Madelyn’s hand, Lucien gently kissed the back of it. ” Dear Ms. Jent,” he said with a bit of an accent, “Prof. Monet always praises your artistic skills. Here’s my card. Let me know if you ever want to open a studio and need funding.”

Madelyn glanced at Prof. Monet. When she saw him nod, she accepted the card and smiled. “You’re too kind, Mr. Dupont. I don’t think I’m that talented. I just work harder than most.”

Lucien chuckled, “You’re being modest. I’ve seen your artwork. It’s really great.”

Madelyn replied, “Thank you.”

After Prof. Monet handed the event’s responsibility to Madelyn, Leonardo left for another interview. Once they were gone, Madelyn took a moment to sigh with relief. Noticing the gallery was not too crowded, she explored the second floor of the art exhibition,

showcasing Western-style artworks by Jane, Clement, and Dorian. Madelyn’s award-winning painting was displayed on the first floor, but she preferred the quieter atmosphere of the second floor. As she climbed the staircase with three cups of coffee in hand for Clement, Dorian, and Jane, she overheard a bit of their conversation.

Dorian said, “It’s quiet up here; it seems that no one’s coming. Madelyn’s got the crowd downstairs covered; she’s always been a standout.

Sometimes, I feel Prof. Monet doesn’t value us as much. How about we head back to the hotel and play some video games?”

“Do you have any conscience, Dorian?” Clement asked sharply. “What if Madelyn had heard you? It would hurt her. Prof. Monet spent four years and faced many dangers to assemble this international art exhibition. Madelyn was always by his side, supporting him without complaint. Remember the desert? She saved you from quicksand. While we hesitated during that storm in the Cobalt Ocean, she fearlessly retrieved Prof. Monet’s painting from the rough waters. It’s her bravery that earned her the position as Prof. Monet’s apprentice. Without her, our journey might have taken another three years. After the exhibition, we’ll return to Ventropolis to graduate.”

For decades, Leonardo dominated the world of realistic art, capturing breathtaking locales from across the globe. Clement recalled their shared adventures over the past four years, venturing to remote and untouched places. Whether navigating treacherous waters or traversing vast deserts in search of hidden oases, they faced countless challenges.

Amid these adventures, Madelyn was enchanted by a world she had only ever imagined. These experiences broadened her horizons and gave her a newfound appreciation for freedom and adventure. Reflecting on these moments, she recognized her tremendous growth.

After a moment of quiet, Dorian quipped, “You sure bring up Madelyn quite a bit. Feeling a bit fond of her?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
