Evelyn quickly spoke up, “Madelyn, the child is indeed Ethan’s. It was my idea for Ethan to accept him, not his own choice. I pleaded with him to keep the child… I know you can’t have children, so I thought if he could get custody, the child could be with you, making up for you not being able to be a mom. After all, the child carries our family bloodline. I couldn’t bear to see him suffer with Donna. Madelyn… you’re a kind-hearted girl. Don’t you want our family name to continue? Donna hid in a corner, secretly listening to their conversation. George chimed in, “Miss Jent, the child doesn’t change your relationship with our young master. A cold chill seemed to surround Ethan, and with a fear of losing her, he grabbed her hand, “I told you; I won’t agree to this. Can we talk about whatever’s bothering you? As long as you don’t leave, I’ll agree to anything. If you don’t like the child, I won’t let him come to the Arnold residence. I just want you to stay.”
Evelyn’s expression darkened immediately, “Robin must stay!”
Madelyn’s eyes remained steady, clearly showing she wasn’t planning to change her mind. Suddenly, hurried voices echoed from upstairs.
“You can’t go down! Your father is still talking to Ms. Jent downstairs.”
“You can’t stop me; I want to see Daddy.

Madelyn looked in the direction of the noise and saw a little boy running down the corridor. He seemed injured, with a bandage wrapped around his head.
The little boy quickly ran to Ethan and hugged his leg, “Daddy, what are you doing with this pretty lady? Why are you holding her hand? I read in books that only mommies and daddies hold hands. So… is this pretty lady trying to take you away?”
“Quiet!” Ethan shouted in anger. He quickly instructed the servant, “Take him away!”
A servant rushed downstairs, trembling as she quickly scooped the boy up.
“I don’t want to… I want to be with Daddy… let go of me! Wahh… Does Daddy not want me anymore? Daddy said I am his favorite.”
The servant quickly covered his mouth, “Stop talking! If you continue, your father will be even angrier.”
