The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 591 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 591

Following the doctor’s instructions, Madelyn brewed herbal tonic in the backyard, keeping busy for over an hour. A servant came up to her, “Miss Jent, let us do that for you. It’s our job, and you shouldn’t have to do it.”

“I’m okay,” Madelyn said, “you can do other stuff.” Right then, another servant told her, ” Miss Jent, Mr. Arnold is here, and Mr. Jardin is talking to him.”

“Got it, I’ll be there in a moment.”

After preparing the tonic, Madelyn took it to her room upstairs. Instead of going downstairs, she asked a servant to get Ethan for her.

In her room, there were photos from their engagement party on the table. There was also a covered painting in one corner. She had wanted to give it to Ethan during their party, but he wasn’t there, so she kept it.

When Ethan came into the room, he quickly hugged her from behind, burying his face in her neck, smelling her hair.

“I’ve been so busy with work and couldn’t come to see you. When are you leaving? I want to spend time with you.”

Madelyn pulled away from his hug, her face not showing any feelings. “I might not go to Paris now. My father is sick, and I need to stay and look after him. The doctor thinks he’ll be better in three months.”

Ethan furrowed his brow. “There are plenty of servants in this house; you don’t need to waste your time here. Painting is something you’ve always wanted to do. If you’re worried, we can have him taken to the hospital. My people will oversee it personally.”

Madelyn looked at him silently, suddenly unable to speak. Her gaze made Ethan somewhat uneasy. He smiled slightly. “Why are you looking at me like that? What’s on your mind?”

Madelyn shook her head quietly. ” Thank you.”

“Don’t be silly,” Ethan replied, “We’re going to be family. Your father will be my father-in-law. I should help.”

Ethan kept his promise and moved Hayson to a hospital linked with the Arnold Corporation. He even arranged bodyguards for him. However, Madelyn was firm that Hayson should continue with his herbal drinks, as the doctor suggested. She deeply wished for his recovery.

With Hayson around, she knew Zach would still be cautious with his actions. Ethan was right; she couldn’t give up what she wanted for the sake of certain matters.

She decided she wouldn’t depend on others anymore. Later, Ethan took her to a fancy French dinner place. She never really liked that restaurant. Her steak tasted like rubber.

Suddenly, Ethan’s phone kept ringing on the table. He looked at it but ignored the call. Even though the phone kept buzzing, Ethan was very kind, cutting her steak for her.

The phone calls kept coming in, one after the other. Madelyn finally said, “You should pick it up. It sounds important.”

Ethan nodded. “Stay here, I’ll be right back.”

Madelyn didn’t respond. Ethan quickly stepped into a quieter hallway and picked up the call, his face showing his annoyance. “Can’t it wait until I get back?”

Donna’s voice was shaky. “Ethan, Robin’s sick again, really bad.” He glanced around, making sure he was alone. “Then get the family doctor.”

“We did, but nothing’s helping. He keeps calling out for you. He’s been given medicine for his fever, but he won’t calm down. His hands are even bleeding from trying to fight people off. Ethan, we both need you here.”

“I’ll be there,” Ethan said, ending the call and heading back to where they were eating. When he got back, Madelyn’s chair was empty.

Worried, Ethan looked around the restaurant, trying to find her. He grabbed a waiter walking by, “Did you see where the lady I was with went?”

The waiter said, “She paid the bill and left. She mentioned something about an emergency at home.”

Ethan quickly asked, “How long ago did she go?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
