The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 567

Men could not stand it when their women cheated on them. Zach followed Hayson as they exited the private room. “I plan to choose a day to publicly announce your identity. You’ve been by my side for so long. It’s time to announce your membership in the Jent family to the public and put an end to all the gossip. It’ll also help Ethan to let his guard down against you.

“Okay,” Zach replied with a hint of coldness in his eyes.

“What use are you when you can’t even handle such a small matter? All I asked was for you to drink, and you put on a sour face in front of everyone. You’re here to make money, not to sulk for attention. If it weren’t for your remaining charm, do you really think you’d even be able to stay in Supreme World?” At the end of the hallway by the elevator, the overweight manager was berating a waitress loudly.

The manager pointed at Cecilia’s forehead. Her eyes filled with stubbornness, but she remained silent. Her back was still straight as she endured the scolding. As a handsome man in a black shirt who exuded a composed demeanor appeared by the elevator, her gaze remained fixed on him, and her ears were deaf to the manager’s reprimands.

Zach noticed her gaze, and they made eye contact. Cecilia’s expression slightly froze, but she sensed a familiar yet dangerous aura around him. However, the man she had noticed had entered the elevator in just a few seconds.

The manager noticed her distraction and launched into a furious and relentless scolding. After the verbal abuse ended, Cecilia began to clear the table. The colleague who served the private room with her came over to comfort her, “Cecilia, are you okay? Did the manager give you a hard time?” Cecilia said softly and indifferently, ” No, let’s finish up and clock out quickly.

“Okay.”

Supreme World was open 24 hours a day with three shifts. After clearing this table, Cecilia could leave work early today. During the summer vacation, she needed to work more so she could pay her tuition and afford to go to college.

Life was inherently unfair. The money spent by the wealthy here in a single night would be more than she could ever possibly earn in her entire life. Others effortlessly obtained certain things, while she had to humble herself and trade her dignity to acquire them.

Time passed quickly, and two days flew by. Ethan walked out of the meeting room with Leyton behind him. Transfer one of the executives from the planning department to take over Azure Corporation and arrange the earliest flight to Paris for me tomorrow. Leyton asked, “Sir, are you planning to meet Ms. Jent?”

Ethan replied, “She has never traveled far before. I’m worried about her being alone out there. I won’t be at the company for the next two months. Cancel any unnecessary social engagements, and only contact me by phone for important matters. I’ll deal with everything else after I return.”

“Understood, Mr. Arnold.”

Ethan was about to have lunch. When he exited the elevator, his phone in his suit pocket rang. Ethan thought it was Madelyn, but it was an unknown number. He picked up the call, saying, ” Hello, Ethan speaking. Who’s this?”

The person on the other end said, ” Hello, Mr. Arnold, I’m the head nurse from Ventropolis Sunshine Children’s Hospital. We have a child here who’s sick and developed a high fever. After a thorough examination, we found this child has another specific medical condition. I originally wanted to contact the child’s mother, but the lady said she was going out to raise money for medical expenses. It’s been several days, and she still hasn’t returned.

“In desperation, we could only contact you through the phone number we obtained from the child. Mr. Arnold, it’s difficult to explain this over the phone. As the child’s father, could you come over in person if possible?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
