The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 552

Just then, Leyton suddenly pushed the door open and walked in, “It’s bad, Mr. Arnold. Mrs. Arnold. Sr. is sick.”

Ethan instantly opened his eyes and sat up. A hint of light flashed past his eyes as he asked, “What happened?”

Leyton responded, “It’s said that you need to return home right now, and Ms. Jent doesn’t need to follow you.” Madelyn was confused as she asked, ” Why?”

Ethan looked at her. Leyton explained, “I’m not sure. But it’s Mrs. Arnold Sr.’s wish. However, the servant’s tone didn’t seem unusual. Maybe she knows that that you have to leave the country and doesn’t want you to worry.”

Madelyn thought, ‘This guess seems to align with how she does things.”  Ethan frowned. He felt that things were not so simple. He asked, “How’s her current condition?”

Leyton responded, “The family doctor has already rushed over.” Ethan stood up. He grabbed his blazer and said to Madelyn, “Rest at the hotel. I’ll go back now.”

Madelyn said, “I’ll go with you.”

Ethan replied, “Listen to me! It’s very late now, and there’s a time difference in Paris. If you don’t rest, your body won’t be able to handle it. If Grandma’s condition isn’t good, I’ll call you.”

Madelyn nodded, “Remember to keep in touch with me using your phone. You don’t have to accompany me if you can’t make it tomorrow.”

Ethan rubbed her head, “Don’t worry. I’ll be back early.”

Madelyn responded, “Okay.” Shortly after Ethan left, the hotel staff delivered Madelyn a room key to the presidential suite.

It was almost eleven at night when Leyton finished seeing off the guests. Madelyn went to the room on the sixty- sixth floor. When she opened the door, she saw a romantic scene with roses scattered all over the floor and candles in the room. In the darkness, the lights were shining like stars.

Unfortunately, it was a pity that she was all alone on what was supposed to be their first night after their engagement.

When she opened the bedroom door, she was amazed. There were nine thousand nine hundred and ninety- nine red roses on the bed. Madelyn thought, ‘Did he… buy all the roses in the entire Ventropolis?’

The room was filled with a seductive aroma; it smelled very good. But the scent made her feel a bit dizzy. She covered her head. Suddenly, her vision became somewhat blurry. In the dimly lit environment, she saw a figure approaching…

Without saying a word, he pressed her against the floor-to-ceiling window and kissed her passionately…

When he let go of her, Madelyn felt her body was light. She was very confused. The man said, “Look closely and see who I am!”

Madelyn shook her head and quickly pushed him away, “Don’t come near me. I’m feeling very hot. I want to take a bath!”

The man bent down to softly nibble her earlobe. He then pulled down the straps of her dress from her shoulder. He kissed her, “Shall I bathe you?”

His voice was extremely alluring and pleasant. Madelyn felt like she could not control her limbs. This feeling was like being in a dream, where everything became surreal…

Madelyn squinted as she reached out to touch his face. Her vision was still blurry as she asked, “Who are you? Why can’t I see your face clearly?

“I’m so hot. Would you mind unzipping me?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
