The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 550

Frida produced the gift box in her hands and said, “Ethan, I apologize for my tardiness. I’ve prepared an engagement present for you, something I’ve carefully chosen. I hope both you and Madelyn will like it.”

“Ethan, Madelyn… Mom put a lot of thought into this gift,” Yvonne added.

Frida opened the box, revealing a four- piece dinnerware set inside. Many in the room recognized it as the work of the renowned artist Adam Burch from Venturia. His porcelain pieces were truly priceless.

A murmur of appreciation swept through the crowd. However, in the next instant, a loud crash echoed through the room.

Ethan raised his hand and forcefully knocked the gift to the ground. His face turned dark and icy. “Who invited you?

Get out!” He showed no mercy. Zach remained seated, calmly taking a sip of his drink. A faint smirk played on his lips.

The joyful atmosphere that had prevailed just moments ago was now shrouded in darkness. Most people watched in silence, not daring to make a sound. Frida’s smile faded into an expression of sadness and disappointment.

Yvonne quickly reacted, stepping forward and saying, “Madelyn invited us. I just spoke to her on the phone.” She turned to Madelyn, “Did you forget to tell Ethan that my mom and I were coming?”

Madelyn looked at Ethan, whose face had turned extremely grim, but she couldn’t find the words to speak.

Yvonne’s voice got louder. “Why didn’t you tell Ethan about this important thing? Look at what’s happening now, Madelyn. What were you thinking? Do you even know how special this gift is?”

Frida forced a strained smile. “It’s okay, Madelyn didn’t mean to forget. Maybe she just got too busy with all the guests.”

She turned to her son. “Ethan, if you don’t like the gift I got you, I can find another one.” As soon as she finished speaking, a sharp sound reverberated through the ballroom.

Smack! A powerful slap struck Yvonne across the face, the sound indicating it was no light hit. Her vision went dark for a moment as she covered her face, taking some time to calm down.

Jadie, who was nearby, jumped and leaned close to Zach, whispering, ” Zach, everything will be okay, right?”

Hayson gave Jadie a warning look, and she immediately stopped talking.

“Yvonne Young, be mindful of what you say. Who are you to say those things to Madelyn? Apologize!” Ethan stared at her.

Yvonne bit her lip, her gaze averted, refusing to speak. Frida chimed in, “Yes, Ethan is right. Yvonne, say sorry to Madelyn.” Yvonne retorted, “Why should I apologize to her? I won’t!”

Madelyn quickly reached out to Ethan. The situation was getting really bad, and it was making everyone uncomfortable.

She furrowed her brow, glancing at Yvonne and then at Ethan. “This is indeed my fault,” she began, struggling to find the right words.

“I did agree to have your mother at our engagement party today. It was my mistake, forgetting to tell you. Can you please not be angry about this?” Madelyn said, hoping to make things better. Madelyn hadn’t expected Yvonne to disregard her words; But no matter what, they were here now.

Ethan gazed deeply at her, the anger in his eyes still not fully dissipated. Although the icy atmosphere had thawed somewhat, his voice remained stern. “Leyton, arrange the seating.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
