The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 524

Madelyn asked, “Do we really need to invite so many people? It’s just an engagement.” The pen ink on the card had not completely dried yet, so she put it down after taking a look.

Ethan responded, “We do. You’re the future lady of the Arnold family, so you’ll inevitably interact with these people. Take a look at the list. If there are people you don’t want to meet, we’ll just strike their names off.”

The paper was filled with numerous names written on it. Madelyn shook her head, “I didn’t expect an engagement to be so troublesome. If I were to handle it, I’d definitely back out.”

As soon as she said that, a vague memory suddenly flooded her mind. In the scene, she was wearing a white dress with her long, black hair cascading down smoothly. It was just before her university graduation. Instead of taking graduation photos, she went back to Zach and her house to start preparing for their upcoming wedding.

She searched online for what was needed to be prepared for the wedding.

After making a checklist, she joyfully walked up to Zach. She said in a coquettish yet complaining tone, ” Zach, there are so many things to prepare for our wedding! I’m getting a headache. Take a look at the guest list. Do you think this is fine?

“Zach, this is the packaging I chose for our wedding candies. Do you like it? “Zach, when we go get our marriage certificate later, should I wear this outfit?

“Zach, look at the camera. I want to capture every beautiful moment of us getting our marriage certificate. I want us to watch it together on our anniversary every year.”

Madelyn suddenly felt a tearing pain in her chest, and it spread to her limbs. For some reason, she suddenly recalled these memories.

She suddenly felt suffocated, as if the events of her previous life had just happened not long ago. Ethan raised his head, “What’s wrong? Is something bothering you?”

Madelyn quickly reacted and smiled as if nothing was wrong, “Nothing. Is there anything I can help with?”

Ethan asked, “Are you bored?”

Madelyn responded, “I just want to help you.” Ethan replied, “The future Mrs. Arnold doesn’t need to do anything. If you’re bored staying here with me, you can go downstairs and watch some TV. I’ll be done very soon.”

The better he treated her, the more Madelyn felt indebted to him. In her previous relationship, she had given her all. And now, someone was willing to do the same for her. Perhaps, she could never repay what he did for her. But a relationship was a two-way street, so Madelyn wanted to do something for him too.

She asked, “Is the packaging for the wedding candies ready? If not, I can design it.” Ethan responded, “Grandma is taking care of it, but if you want to do it, you can.”

Madelyn said, “I’ll go get started then.”

Madelyn put away her books. She then returned to her room and took out an art book. She started drawing the packaging design on the white sheet of paper.

As soon as she started drawing with a pencil, the pencil tip suddenly broke and created a hole in the smooth paper. Madelyn suddenly had a bad feeling about all this.

‘This isn’t a good sign. I hope I’m just being paranoid.’

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
