The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 473

Madelyn had someone replace the door with a new, more secure one. Zach did not leave for several consecutive days, as if he had decided to live in Southern Haven Villas. He showed no intention of returning to the company and seemed determined to confront her here. Madelyn rarely went downstairs. Even if she did, she would turn and leave upon seeing him.

Margaret returned and prepared lunch. It was the weekend, so Jadie returned to Southern Haven Villas as well. She sat at the dining table, and Margaret had set out additional tableware.

Jadie asked, “Zach, why haven’t you told me you’ve been staying here these past few days? Can I stay here with you?

Zach noticed there were only two sets of tableware. He turned to Margaret and spoke in a deep voice, “Ask her to come down for lunch.”

Margaret appeared hesitant as she spoke, “Ms. Jent said she doesn’t want to dine with outsiders.” A sharp glint flashed in Zach’s eyes. Margaret was frightened by his gaze, shrinking back. “I’m just repeating what she said, sir.”

Jadie glanced at Zach and said, “Zach, how long will Madelyn keep this up? The class teacher wants me to convince her to return to school, and I think she should. It’s just an exam, so she still has a chance to catch up if she returns to school. Class One is progressing

quickly and she’ll fall behind if she doesn’t go back soon. Zach, please talk to Madelyn. She really can’t go on like this.”

“Mind your own business. I’ll talk to Madelyn about it. Finish your meal and go back quickly.”

Jadie had not expected that Zach would try to drive her away, and she was reluctant to leave. In reality, she had her own hidden agenda, which was to prevent Zach from being alone with Madelyn. Jadie was his girlfriend now, so the thought of them being alone made her feel jealous, even if Madelyn no longer had feelings for Zach.

“Zach, I want to be with you. Don’t worry. I won’t cause you any trouble. I know I can’t do much, but I can stay here with you to help with cooking and cleaning.”

“Listen here. I’ll go home in a few days. Madelyn is sick, and she’s alone at home. I can’t leave her. Finish your meal, go back home and do your homework.” Zach’s voice was calm, but his tone showed his displeasure without allowing any refusal.

Margaret was cleaning the kitchen and thought, ‘Oh my! The way he said it almost made me believe it.’

Jadie lowered her eyes, and her expression was unreadable, but disappointment was evident. She knew she had to listen no matter what Zach said, but she did not want to and just wanted to be by his side. Jadie had relied on Zach from a young age.

“Since when has Madelyn ever treated us like family?” Jadie murmured unhappily.

Zach’s face darkened instantly. “Is that what you think? Have you forgotten whose connections got you into Ventrocloud High School? Jadie, I don’t want to hear something like that from you again.”

“Ms. Jent, you’ve come down! Come and have lunch,” said Margaret.

Madelyn wore a long black knitted dress, with her slightly curled long hair cascading down. She had an overcoat draped over her wrists, and it seemed like she had applied light makeup with a subtle shade of lipstick.

“It’s okay. I need to go out for a while.”

“Where are you going?”

There was a hint of fatigue in her eyes, and it was obvious that Madelyn had just woken up. She handed her overcoat to Margaret without even looking at Zach and Jadie. She walked into the kitchen and poured a glass of warm water. “It’s just some personal matters. Also, if I don’t return today, it’s up to you to decide whether you want to stay here or go home and rest for a few days.

“Oh! When are you coming back? You can’t just not come back forever, right? What about my salary?”

Madelyn drank the water and placed the glass on the table. “I’ll transfer your salary for this month to your card. Even if I don’t return, I won’t deduct your salary.”

“In that case, I’ll come over to clean whenever I’m free. It’ll save you the trouble of returning here just for accommodation.”

“Okay, it’s up to you.”

Madelyn saw a familiar Maybach outside the window, driving towards the villa and parking outside. “They’re here. I’m leaving.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
