The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 340

“Head to SereneCare Hospital, then call Zach. You’ll need a family member to sign off on the surgery.”

“Understood.” When Madelyn got to the hospital, she had met with Kai. Before her operation, Kai had done a checkup on her and found out that her womb had been infected, which was why she was bleeding so heavily.

“How long did you wait to get this surgery? The infection has already spread.” Lying on the surgery bed, Madelyn answered with a hint of sarcasm,” Well, I wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place if it wasn’t for all of you, right?”

Kai smirked. “He’s already gone easy on you. If I had my way… that tiny drug wouldn’t be enough.” He glanced back at her, a mysterious smile on his face.”

Get changed into the hospital gown and we can get started. Just remember, once your uterus is gone, you won’t be able to have kids, ever.” Madelyn forced a smile, tears filling her eyes and dampening her hair. What choice do I have?”

Madelyn looked like she could pass out any second. Looking at her, Kai was reminded of another woman from his past, who had also been on the brink of death and ultimately had not survived to the next year.

Zach had hurried from the office and signed the consent form outside the operating room. “What’s the status?” “At this point, removal is the only option.”

Forrest, fiddling with a lighter, leaned against the wall. “What did you guys do to her? A Jent pushed to the edge by a stranger…Impressive, Mr. Jardin!”

Kai shot a glance at him and then at Zach. “You two know each other?” Zach’s eyes were emotionless, and he did not even bother to look at Forrest. When’s the surgery gonna be done?”

“In about an hour,” Kai said, glancing at Forrest with a smirk. “It’s just an appendicitis surgery, no big deal. Your little girlfriend will be out in no time.”

“You think I’m an idiot? Appendicitis, my ass! She was bleeding so heavily!” Forrest snapped. ‘Wow, this kid’s got some fire in him,’ Kai thought before going into the operating room.

When Madelyn was brought out, she was partially numb from the anesthesia, but still conscious. She could feel the sensation in her body that her uterus had been removed. In her past life, she had not been able to witness her child being born, which was a lifelong regret. Now, without a uterus, it felt like the end of the world for her. She would never be able to have her own children.

Madelyn lay on the bed with her eyes closed, feeling her tears dry. A nurse was hanging an IV for her. When Madelyn opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Zach. She said, expressionlessly, “Thank you for coming. You can go home now. Forrest can stay and take care of me.”

Zach left, leaving only Forrest and Madelyn in the hospital room. “You can go home too, Forrest. I’ll be fine on my own.”

Forrest’s already dirty school uniform was draped over the table. He pulled up a chair, sat down, and casually picked up a paring knife to peel an apple. “I took a leave of absence from school. As for the Arnold family, you’ll have to cover for yourself.”

“Aren’t you going to ask me what happened?” Madelyn turned her head, her eyes red with sorrow, and she looked at him coldly. “That’s your own business. It’s up to you to decide if you want to share it with me or not.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
