The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1310

Liam said, “I know you don’t want to see me. I’m just worried about you being here alone. If you don’t want to see me, I’ll leave.”

Blake covered her eyes with her hands. They were slightly red from crying. Her tone carried restrained emotions as she replied, “Liam, I’m sorry. I thought we were just feigning our relationship. I never imagined there’d be anything between us.”

Blake knew these words were hurtful, but she still decided to say it.

Liam calmly responded, “Blake, the one who should apologize is me. Last night, you mistook me for him. I couldn’t control myself. I’m sorry.

“As I’ve said before, if you want a divorce, I’ll let you go anytime. This statement will always hold truth. When you calm down and decide that you still can’t accept what happened, I’m willing to cancel the wedding and divorce you.”

He then left.

However, he was still very worried. In the car, he called Janice.

Janice was very surprised to receive a call from Liam. Just before the call ended, she hesitated before saying, Mr. Xander, there’s something I’m not sure if I should tell you.”

Liam replied gently, “If it’s inconvenient for you to say, it’s fine. Please take good care of Blake for me.”

After much hesitation, she decided to tell him about the matter. “Last night, I saw Mr. Harrison at the bar. He’s been gone for so long, and it seems like he’s back.”

Liam responded, “I know about this. Thank you for telling me.”

Janice was pleasantly surprised.” You’re welcome. Mr. Xander, you can continue with your work. I won’t disturb you any longer.”

She pondered, ‘I’m just an insignificant secretarial assistant. I didn’t expect Mr. Xander to speak so gently to me.’

After knowing about Blake and Kevin’s affair, Janice felt that men like Liam, who were gentle and considerate, were more suitable for Blake.

She thought, ‘I’m afraid Blake might not be able to take it if I tell her that Mr. Harrison has already got together with Ms. Parker. I can’t imagine what she would do.’

Janice took the day off, too. When she arrived at the apartment, she knocked on the door several times, but there was no response.

She was afraid something might have happened to Blake, so she finally opened the door with the password lock and entered. She was greeted with the prepared dishes on the table. The food looked delicious and smelt great. There was even an apron on the table. Janice knew Blake hardly ever cooked, so she knew Liam made these dishes.

Janice felt hungry just by smelling them.

She quickly reacted when she heard movement from the bedroom, remembering the purpose of her coming here today.

As she entered the bedroom, she saw Blake standing on the desk with the window open. Janice was immediately startled and screamed, “Blake!”

She then quickly approached and hugged Blake, who she thought wanted to commit suicide. “You mustn’t do something foolish!”

Blake’s legs were tightly held. At first, she was frightened by the sudden intrusion. But after hearing Janice’s voice, she relaxed. Blake’s voice was hoarse. “Janice, I wasn’t going to do something foolish. I wanted to hang the curtain.”

Janice pondered, ‘Really?’

Blake then came down from the table after hanging the curtain. She then only asked, “Why are you here?”

“Mr. Xander sent me over. He said you weren’t in a good mood, so he asked me to come and keep you company. Also, he’s such a nice person. He was worried that I might not be paid for taking the day off, so he paid me double the salary.

She continued, “Blake, what’s wrong? Why are you suddenly in a bad mood?

Did you argue with Mr. Xander?”

At the company, Janice was Blake’s close friend whom she could talk to about anything.

To be more accurate, Janice was the only person Blake could really talk to at the company.

After some hesitation, she decided to tell Janice everything.

But Janice was not surprised at all. Instead, she sincerely wished them well. “Blake, Mr. Xander is a really good person. You don’t need to be upset. Besides, no matter what the reason is, you two are married, aren’t you?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
