The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1298

Cecilia said, “Blake, I did consider eliminating Kevin for your sake, but I’ve been lenient. If you don’t trust me, I have video footage. However, Kevin might still be alive.”

In the cold night, Blake felt an icy chill envelop her, as if she had plunged into a nightmare she could not escape.

‘How could Kevin be dead? He promised to return. Why does Cecilia claim he died in that explosion?’ Blake reflected, shocked.

On the other end, Cecilia received no reply, only hearing a heavy thud before the call ended abruptly.

Liam, searching for Blake, discovered her on the balcony unconscious with her phone nearby. Unaware of the conversation, he noticed Cecilia’s number as the last dialed.

Liam’s concern turned into a frosty determination. Prioritizing Blake’s well -being, he rushed her to the hospital.

The nurse eventually announced, ” Congratulations, your wife is six weeks pregnant. Her fainting was likely due to exhaustion and low blood sugar, nothing serious. Just make sure she has a nutritious diet when you get home.”

Liam, looking at the still unconscious Blake on the bed, asked, “Is the baby okay?”

“You might need an ultrasound to know for sure,” the nurse replied. “But as long as she rests, there shouldn’t be any issues.”

Liam’s gaze deepened. “Thank you.”

It was early in the morning when Blake woke up. She tried not to disturb Liam by her bed, but tears began to flow uncontrollably, even with her eyes closed. Soon, the pillow was soaked. Liam felt the hand he was holding tremble. He opened his eyes to see Blake crying.

Liam was momentarily taken aback before gently wiping her tears. He asked, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling sick?”

Blake felt suffocated, and her heart ached with sadness. Opening her eyes, she revealed, “Liam, Cecilia said that Kevin’s dead, that he died in that explosion.”

Liam reassured her, “Kevin hasn’t been confirmed dead. I’ve already had it investigated. He wasn’t found at the explosion site in Northern Myanmar. Given his expertise, it’s unlikely he was harmed.”

“Are you telling the truth? You’re not lying to me?” Blake asked.

Liam assured Blake, “I have no reason to lie. You’re my wife now, and I’m here for you, regardless of our marriage’s initial purpose.”

Blake nodded, “Liam, I want to go home.”

“Alright, I’ll take you home,” Liam promised.

When Liam brought Blake home, she chose not to worry Simon and Grace about the events from last night.

Liam took leave from work to stay with Blake.

Unable to stay idle at home, Blake drove to the apartment where Kevin used to live. Since his departure, she had ensured it was regularly cleaned, with his clothes left untouched in the wardrobe.

Blake walked into Kevin’s bedroom, her gaze falling on the neatly placed pajamas in the open wardrobe. A pang of painful sorrow spread across her chest. Their memories seemed like they had happened just yesterday, yet everything had changed so drastically now.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
