The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 1280 by Max Charming

Margaret shook her head. “I can’t talk about this; I can’t tell you. Besides, if anything goes wrong, how do I justify it to Mr. Jardin?”

Kai was both angry and amused. “You do trust him a lot…”

Margaret replied, “Of course. Mr. Jardin said that when he comes back, he’ll give me a bonus. With that, I can spoil my grandson and buy lots of nice things for him.”

Kai thought, ‘It’s indeed rare to see someone being so loyal to Zach. There are all sorts of people with ill intentions around him. Having such a dedicated helper is indeed worth taking such a risk.’

“I won’t force you if you don’t want to tell me. Zach trusts you very much, and so will I.” Kai did not expect he would give in to a maid.

He took out his phone and showed Margaret a message. “Look at it properly. We’re on the same side. It won’t do me any good to harm you all.”

Margaret rolled her eyes. “What does it say? I can’t read.”

Her response left Kai speechless. “Fine.

Margaret was worried Kai had some bad intentions.

The heating was on in Southern Haven Villas. Kai felt hot, so he took off his jacket. Margaret asked, “Why do you want to stay here overnight? We don’t allow outsiders here.”

The sky had already darkened.

“Being cautious is good. But if you’re overly suspicious to the point of not even trusting me, no one will be able to help you if something really happens.”

Margaret squinted and thought, ‘Mr. Jardin once said that unless it was Mr. Turner, no one should leave here with anyone.

‘I can trust the man in front of me to a certain extent, but not too much. But maybe I should just not trust him.’

Margaret’s job here was just to take care of Dalton. There were maids in this villa who were responsible for cooking. Meals would be prepared in time.

The dinner was already being prepared.

So far, Kai had not seen anything wrong in Southern Haven Villas. However, he believed he must remain vigilant. He did not trust anyone here except for Margaret. Although no one could enter the villa now, and the people inside could not leave, he still had to be cautious.

Dalton sat quietly in the child’s seat as he ate. Kai could not help but tease him, saying, “Your parents don’t want you anymore, yet you can still eat so happily. You’re quite light-hearted!”

The next second, Dalton suddenly cried, which lasted for half an hour.

His cries echoed throughout the entire villa. No matter how Margaret tried to soothe him, she could not calm him down.

Kai found it noisy and went to the room on the second floor. However, he accidentally entered the master bedroom where Hayson had stayed in. The study next door was connected to it. He opened the curtains for the lights outside to shine into the room. He stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window and dialed a phone number.

After the phone rang for a long time, it was finally connected. The person on the other end sounded lazy. Kai asked, ” Just woke up?”

Madelyn replied, “Yeah. How’s Dal?”

Kai walked to the door without responding to let Madelyn hear the crying sound. She could hear it all too clearly and asked, “What’s wrong with him?”

Kai replied, “He’s very smart. I told him his parents didn’t want him, yet he could still eat happily. And he started crying right after that. It’s lasted for half an hour now. Do you want to soothe him?”

A maid rushed over to Kai and said, ” It’s not good. Dr. Stewart, you need to come with me now. The child has been crying non-stop, and he just threw up the milk he drank.”

Kai did not hang up the phone. He walked to the room on the third floor, where everyone was comforting the delicate Dalton.

He said, “All right. All of you leave except for one person to take care of him.”

Once everyone left except for Margaret, Kai put the phone next to Dalton’s ear. He said, “Talk to him. Maybe he’ll stop crying when he hears your voice.”

He turned to look at Dalton, “Little rascal, your mom is on the phone…”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
