Blake glanced at Liam. “I’m with Liam, and we’re heading to the company for work. Do you need something?”

Kai replied, “Perfect timing. Both of you go to SereneCare Hospital. I have something that I need your help with. Go there now.”

Blake responded, “By the way, Dr. Stewart, why couldn’t I reach you when I called?”

But before she could receive an answer from Kai, he had already ended the call. Blake, frustrated, put away her phone. ”

Liam, do you have any idea why he wants us?”

Liam shook his head. “I’m not sure. Let’s go over and see what he needs.”

“Okay.”

Coincidentally, both their cars arrived at the entrance of SereneCare Hospital at the same time. Kai got out of his car, and Blake walked up to him. “Dr. Stewart.”

Kai responded, “Let’s talk while we walk.”

Kai, upon seeing Liam beside Blake, sized him up quietly. However, Liam, avoiding eye contact, seemed to sense that Kai knew something.

Blake, who was kept in the dark, could not sense anything unusual about the situation.

Meanwhile, someone discreetly made a call to Cecilia.

“Ms. Samford, the person you instructed us to monitor has appeared. He’s here with Blake and Liam. Liam is here, so we dare not take any action. How should we handle this?”

In the CEO’s office at Jardin Corporation, Cecilia stopped everything she was doing, and the pen she had been spinning went still. “It seems like this matter involves many people. Continue to keep an eye on them and see what they’re up to.”

She pondered, ‘Kai Stewart, you actually dare to come to my territory. Now, who’s the one who has to stay hidden?

‘Now all Ventropolis is under my control. So, this is how it feels to be able to control everything…’

Cecilia walked to the window and looked at the people below, who appeared as tiny as ants. As she looked at the entire Ventropolis, she finally realized why in the previous life, Zach had been willing to let go of Madelyn to achieve his status.

She thought, ‘Zach, even though you regretted taking this position in the previous life, didn’t you still lose her in the end? That was karma; every action has its consequences. When you gain one thing, you’ll lose another.

‘You’ve founded Jardin Corporation, ruling over so many people, yet you still remain beneath Madelyn.’

Cecilia wanted to become the CEO, to experience this position, and to understand what it felt like to have power. And now, she had finally felt it.

She pondered, ‘Zach, even if you wake up, so what? You want to be with Madelyn? Don’t even think about it.’

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
