The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1256

A nurse exclaimed, “It’s back. Dr. Stewart, the patient’s heartbeat is back.

Kai let out a sigh of relief, though he remained vigilant.

He thought, ‘Zach, oh Zach! You indeed couldn’t let her go even when you are on the brink of death.’

Kai said, “The fragment has been removed. Now, pay attention. We’ll perform the final stitching procedure. There’s no room for error.”

Everyone was on high alert, “Okay.”

The surgery lasted about seven hours. At half past nine in the morning, the surgery finally concluded.

Outside the operating room, a deputy warden informed Fred, who was resting with closed eyes. “Mr. Turner, Ms. Harper has awakened. Should we go back now?”

Blake, who had dozed off leaning against the wall, immediately woke up upon hearing Mya’s name. When she noticed Fred, who had stood up, was about to leave, she quickly stood up and said, “Mr. Turner, I’d like to ask. Are you the person who has Cecilia under control? How is she now?”

Fred glanced sideways at her, “She won’t die.”

Blake already had some guesses in her mind with his brief response. She thought, ‘Who knows how many people Cecilia has hired or is in cahoots with? Now, besides Fred, no one can control her.’

Fred closed his eyes to rest in the car. When he returned to the Ventropolis Prison, the deputy warden received a call from the hospital. He reported to Fred, “Zach’s surgery has been completed, and everything is fine. He’ll wake up sooner or later.”

Fred spoke with a deep voice, “He’s quite something.”

Zach would need to be monitored in the ICU for some time. Kai, weary, walked out of the operating room. Given the intense surgery, Blake followed him, concerned.

He said, “We can’t let Zach continue staying here.”

When Blake heard his weakened voice, she walked forward to support him, ” Dr. Stewart, are you worried Cecilia doesn’t want Mr. Jardin to wake up?”

Kai replied, “Not only that. Cecilia’s ambitions are growing. I’m afraid she wants more than just Zach; she wants to replace him and truly become the CEO of Jardin Corporation.

“You should’ve heard about the affairs of the Xander and Parker families. Cecilia has become too ambitious.

Sooner or later, her greed will backfire on her.

“I’ll find a way to transfer Zach out of this hospital, preferably to a place where Cecilia dares not cause trouble.”

Without any hesitation, Blake blurted out, “I know two places, either Ventropolis Prison or Southern Haven Villas. Kevin told me that I could go to Southern Haven Villas if I was ever in danger. These two places are under Fred’s jurisdiction; Cecilia won’t dare to cause trouble there.”

Kai looked at her, “So now you know what to do, right?”

Blake nodded, “Yes. Rest assured, I won’t disappoint you.”

Kai took a deep breath, “I didn’t expect that besides Kevin, there’s someone else who’s so loyal to Zach. He has made a correct judgment about you right from the beginning!”

Blake’s heart skipped a beat, “From the beginning? Dr. Stewart, what do you mean? I don’t quite understand.”

Kai replied, “If you don’t understand, figure it out yourself. Now, drive me back. Zach’s transfer can wait. But we absolutely can’t allow Cecilia an opportunity to hurt him.”

Blake responded, “Okay.”

She supported Kai to the parking lot downstairs. As soon as he got into the car, he fell asleep almost instantly.

Although Blake was exhausted from staying outside the operating room all night, she dared not doze off.

When she got back to her apartment, she saw Liam waiting downstairs. She wondered how long he had been waiting for her. When he saw Blake, he walked over to her and said, “Blake…”

“You…” She managed to utter a word before she suddenly fainted.

When she woke up, it was already noon the next day.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
