The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1254

At midnight in SereneCare Hospital, a nurse diligently checked on Zach, who was lying on the bed, unconscious. Unexpectedly, she noticed the machine monitoring his heart rate decline gradually. She then immediately pressed the emergency call button.

The on-duty doctor rushed over, asking, “What happened? What’s the current condition of the patient?”

The nurse anxiously explained, “His wound still hasn’t healed even after a long time. I was just about to administer medication to him when I noticed a significant amount of bleeding from his wound. I’ve already asked another nurse to fetch blood bags from the blood bank.”

The doctor responded, “Contact Dr. Griver immediately and ask her to come perform surgery on this patient. This surgery has been delayed for too long; we can’t afford any more delays.”

The nurse replied, “But Dr. Griver mentioned in the last meeting that there’s a sharp fragment near the patient’s heart. It’s not easy to remove, and the slightest mistake could cut through the patient’s heart vessels. Besides Dr. Stewart, no one else can perform this surgery.”

“But we don’t even know where he is! Contact Ms. Samford and ask her to come to the hospital immediately. And no matter what, the surgery must be done.”

“We’ve already tried contacting Ms. Samford as soon as the incident happened, but we can’t reach her.”

The doctor was shocked, “What?!”

At midnight, Blake was lying in bed, getting ready to sleep, when she suddenly received a call from the hospital. After hearing the news, she immediately ended the call and informed Kai about the situation.

Meanwhile, Kai was on the phone with Madelyn, whom he had not contacted in a long time. He heard the sound of wind and waves on the phone.

Madelyn asked, “Is there something you want to tell me?”

Kai turned to look at Lana, who was sleeping, and the two babies, who had already woken up. He fiddled with his watch as he said, “Actually, it’s nothing much. I received a call from the hospital saying that Zach’s situation was very bad. He might not make it through tonight.

“Maddie, what are your thoughts on Zach now?”

Madelyn did not respond for a long time before ending the call.

The next second, Kai received a call from Blake. He picked it up and said, ” Speak!”

Blake had already slammed the door shut and was on her way to the hospital, “Mr. Jardin is in trouble.”

Kai replied, “I already know about this. I have temporarily kept Cecilia under control.”

Blake responded, “Wait, how did you know about this matter? Also, how did you manage to keep Cecilia under control? What about Joanna? Isn’t she in cahoots with Cecilia?”

Kai said, “You don’t need to ask too much about this matter. I’m heading to the hospital now, and you should, too.”

“All right, Dr. Stewart.”

After Kai ended the call, he looked at Lana, who had awakened. He walked over and asked, “Did I wake you up?”

Lana shook her head, “No. Go and take care of your business. I’m fine. The nanny is here, so I’ll be fine.”

Kai reached out to caress Lana’s hair, ” I’ll be back after the surgery is over.”

Lana replied, “Okay.”

Kai then drove to the hospital. After arriving there, he encountered an unexpected visitor. A man wearing boots stepped out of a black vehicle. Kai approached him and greeted, “Hi, Mr. Turner!”

Fred had a strong presence, just like Zach. He showed a disdainful look as he responded, “Even you showed up. I thought you’d continue hiding like a scaredy-cat.”

Kai chatted with Fred as they were walking. He replied, “The person I’ll be saving is Zach. If he wakes up, the first person he’ll go after is me. Mr. Turner, you do know that I still have a family to support. You don’t have vulnerabilities, but unlike you, I do.”

The elevator slowly ascended. Fred chuckled without responding.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
