The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1237

With a furrowed brow, Blake hesitated before saying, “If that’s not the case, why does Cecilia keep pushing for me to tie the knot with you and waltz right into the Xander family to become Mrs. Xander? You clearly know we’re just friends, and I’m already with Kevin. I understand my words hurt you, but I have to say how I truly feel. Did you know that Cecilia is using Madelyn’s life to threaten me? If I don’t do things her way, how many more people will she hurt besides Madelyn?

“Liam, actually, I recalled those childhood memories I had forgotten long ago. Cecilia… is my sister,” Blake lowered her head while saying these words. It was a fact she had never wanted to believe in her entire life, but what could she do? Cecilia was her sister. It was a bond that Blake could not sever. Her once-beloved sister had become a relationship she now refused to acknowledge.

Blake vividly remembered Cecilia going to those grimy alleys and dealing with old perverts that were trying to take advantage of her, all just to make some living expenses and support her. She also knew that the hardships they had faced in the past were what had led Cecilia to pursue power ruthlessly. However, no matter how bad Cecilia became, upon discovering Blake’s identity, she never harmed Blake.

There was a lot of inner turmoil in Blake’s mind. “Thinking about the past, my feelings toward Cecilia can only be described as a mix of love and hate. I can’t believe my sister, who used to hustle so hard to keep me alive, has turned into what she is now.”

Liam watched as tears welled up in Blake’s eyes. Suddenly, he stood up and gently reached out, pulling her into his arms and offering soft words of comfort, “Blake, I hate seeing you cry. I know about everything, but I never intended to pressure you into anything. Just remember that I’m always on your side.

“What do you want me to do? I’ll go along with whatever you decide. I won’t return to the Xander family if you don’t want me to, okay?” Liam spoke in a gentle tone as Blake cried silently. She had never felt this exhausted before.

The atmosphere was now awkward as Liam and Blake struggled to eat, wasting a table full of delicious food.

Sitting on the couch, Liam gently cupped Blake’s face, wiping away her tears. “Blake, would you be open to hearing my advice?”

Blake looked at him with teary eyes.” What is it?”

Liam said, “Let’s get married as Cecilia wants us to.”

Blake immediately pushed him away and rejected the idea. “Liam, I can’t betray Kevin. We’ve had a physical relationship, and I promised to wait for him to return.”

A twinge of pain grazed Liam’s chest, and a forced smile played on his lips. ” It’s okay. We can get married before he returns. After that, we can end it anytime if you want a divorce. If you don’t trust me, we can even draft a divorce agreement and sign it after we get married, and when that day comes we’ll head to the courthouse to pick up the divorce papers. But for now, getting married is the only way for us to keep Cecilia at bay.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
