The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1220

Feeling uneasy and uncertain, Blake exited the private jet with Cecilia, the presence of bodyguards nearby heightening her discomfort. Cecilia, appearing unfazed by the armed company, reassured her, “It’s legal to carry weapons here. Stay close to me, and don’t wander off. You’ll be fine.”

As Blake detected the faint smell of gunpowder, her uneasiness grew. “Why would he be in a place like this?” she asked.

Cecilia’s reply was cryptic yet revealing, “This is the reality of the former million-earning assistant from Jardin Corporation.”

After about fifteen minutes, they arrived at a compound surrounded by high walls topped with barbed wires, a design suggesting containment rather than protection. Inside a relatively clean room, Blake and Cecilia were left with three suitcases while the bodyguards stood guard outside.

Cecilia broke the silence, “We’ll be meeting with some influential people of this region soon.”

Blake’s frown deepened, “You seem very familiar with all this. Are you involved with these criminals? You do realize the consequences if the police find out?”

Cecilia smiled faintly, “I appreciate your concern. Rest assured, you’re the only one who knows about this. As my little sister, I trust you won’t betray me.

Blake quickly countered, “My concern is not for you. I simply don’t want to get caught up in your mess.”

Cecilia approached, taking her hand, ” Why would that happen? I have everything now. Whatever you want to do, just do it. Whatever happens, I’ll cover for you. From now on, no one will bully us.”

Feeling uncomfortable under Cecilia’s intense scrutiny, Blake averted her gaze. For discretion, they decided to change into the local attire and remove their jewelry. Later that evening, Cecilia led Blake to a lavish villa spanning several floors.

In the villa’s large third-floor living room, many men, each with a flamboyantly dressed woman, were present. Cecilia mingled effortlessly among the brutish-looking men who treated her with the utmost respect.

Blake excused herself after eating a little, feeling out of place at the gathering. Upon her return, she caught sight of an intoxicated old man, Grant Patterson, making inappropriate advances toward Cecilia. Maintaining her composure, Cecilia said, “Mr. Patterson, you’ve had too much to drink.”

Reeking of alcohol, Grant leered at Cecilia, “Ms. Samford, you’ve certainly prospered. It’s been ages, and you look even more stunning now.”

Blake’s anger surged seeing the scene unfolded in front of her. She pushed Grant away, exclaiming, “What do you think you’re doing? Haven’t you ever seen a woman before? Keep your hands to yourself, or you’ll regret it.”

The force of Blake’s push sent the drunken Grant stumbling to the ground, his head banged against the wall and bled. The atmosphere in the room instantly shifted, with the women retreating in fear.

Feeling the blood on his head, Grant angrily shouted, “You’re asking for trouble!”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
