The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1198

Cecilia thought to herself, ‘I may not be able to confront Fred directly, but I dare you, Blake, to stay in Southern Haven Villas indefinitely.’

When Blake stepped out of the police car at Southern Haven Villas, she was initially barred from entering. However, a middle-aged woman called out from behind, “Let her in, young man. I know her. She’s a good person.” It was Margaret, holding Dalton.

Zachary compared the photos and, after receiving information from a guard, permitted Blake to enter.

As Blake entered, she noticed someone hiding in the bushes with a camera. She shouted, “There’s someone in the bushes taking pictures! Catch him!”

The discovered photographer attempted to flee, but Zachary fired a warning shot, declaring, “Run again, and the next bullet won’t miss.”

The loud bang startled the birds in the forest and caused the photographer, now terrified, to wet himself and fall to the ground. Blake hurried over and checked his camera, finding it full of pictures of Dalton.

Feeling that something was wrong, Blake demanded, “Who hired you to take these photos?”

“I don’t know! I was just paid to do a job. I swear I don’t know anything! Please, don’t kill me!” pleaded the photographer.

“Show me the phone number of the person who contacted you,” Blake insisted.

The man displayed a string of unfamiliar numbers. A familiar voice answered when Blake dialed the number, “Have you gotten the photos I requested? They’re for Ms. Samford. Mess this up, and you’ll deeply regret it.

Blake recognized it was Susan’s voice. She learned that they only wanted photos of Dalton. After confirming that the photos had not been sent, Blake destroyed the camera’s memory card and smashed the camera. She could not take any chances with Cecilia’s intentions, especially since a child was involved. Blake thought, ‘It was a close call.’

“Ms. Dion, would you like some water? “Margaret’s voice broke her train of thought.

Returning to reality, Blake asked Margaret, “You know me?”

Margaret replied, “Of course, Ms. Jent mentioned you and showed me your photo. Ms. Harper is your cousin, right?

Blake nodded. “Yes. You know her as well?”
Margaret laughed. “Oh, absolutely! Every time she visits, the food I prepare is never enough. I recall a few months ago, she consumed two whole pots! Mr. Jardin appeared displeased. If Ms. Jent hadn’t intervened, Ms. Harper might’ve eaten even more. By the way, Ms. Dion, I’ve been curious since the wedding. Why did Mr. Jardin and Ms. Jent suddenly disappear? And those strangers at the gate, I have no idea where they came from.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
