The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1149

After that, Olivia angrily left. Liam waited from morning until evening, watching the sun gradually set.

Finally, the female police officer could not take it anymore and approached Liam, trying to persuade him, “Mr. Xander, it’s not ideal for you to keep waiting here. Your girlfriend is actually very worried about your health. For her sake, you should go back.”

With a faint smile, Liam shook his head, “I’m fine.”

The office said, “You should go home. Sigh, fine! At least eat something.”

After a while, the officer brought a piece of bread and a cup of warm water and placed them beside him. He held the cup of water, his cold fingers feeling the warmth.

Under the gloomy sky, Liam lowered his eyes. In the next moment, he felt a hint of coldness on his eyelashes; a crystal-clear snowflake hung on them.

Liam blinked before looking up at the streetlights and watching the snowfall.

When the water in his hand turned cold, he put it down.

Then, he grabbed his phone and made a call. He stood outside the door, his slim figure looking lonely.

A few seconds later, a deep, thick voice on the other end of the call could be heard, “What’s the matter?”

Liam finally called him after ten years.

The man suppressed his intense emotions while he talked on the phone.

Liam said, “I have something that I need your help with.”

“Okay.”

Half a minute later, the other person said, “I understand the situation. I’ll handle it. Come back when you’re free. No matter what, I’ll always be your father. I’m proud of your achievements.

Liam emotionlessly responded with one word, “Okay.”

“If you’re free next Monday, our family can have a meal together. You can choose the place to eat.”

Liam replied, “It’s fine. Thank you so much for your help today.”

After a long silence from the other end, Liam added, “I’ll come to thank you one day.”

The call ended.

Liam waited at the door for about five minutes and heard Blake’s voice.

“I can leave now? Am I clear of my suspicion?” Blake sounded weary.

“Yes, you may leave soon. Your boyfriend has been waiting outside for you the whole day. He’s truly very good to you. That kind of boyfriend is rare. Remember to cherish him. Take care, a police officer responded.

“Okay, I got it. Thank you.” Blake was still a little puzzled. When she walked out, she realized Liam was indeed still waiting outside.

She approached him and scolded him, ” You’re so silly! Why didn’t you go home?! Look, it’s snowing. Aren’t you cold?”

Liam smiled as he stared at her. He shook his head, “I’m fine. You’re okay, and that’s all that matters.”

Blake noticed his pale complexion. She reached out to touch his freezing hands before hurriedly trying to remove her scarf, “How did I not realize you’re so stubborn?! I’ve told you that I’d be fine.

Liam held her hands to stop her action, “Let’s go home.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
