The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1126

Upon hearing footsteps outside the door, Madelyn panicked and hastily put away her phone. However, she failed to hold the phone firmly, and it fell to the ground.

Outside the door, Zach had just finished talking to Kevin about some matters. As he entered the ward, he noticed the phone on the floor. He saw a route displayed on a map application on the phone screen. When Madelyn saw him, she pretended to be calm as she picked up the phone from the ground.

“What are you looking at?” Zach’s tone was unfriendly. He walked over to her and took the phone from her hand. He then unlocked the phone and enlarged the route on the map.

The marked location was nothing more than a village near the mountains. It did not even have a displayed name.

Sensing the chilling aura emanating from Zach, Madelyn knew she could not show any signs of unease. Otherwise, he would feel that she was hiding something from him.

Madelyn calmly turned around to pour a glass of water for herself. She was actually very nervous, and her palms were sweating. She kept her back turned to him, avoiding his gaze.

After taking a sip of water, she said, ” Nothing much. I felt bored always staying home, so I was looking to see if any places were worth visiting.”

When Zach heard her normal tone, his sharp gaze gradually turned gentle. He then placed the phone beside her.

He thought, ‘I was too sensitive. The wedding is approaching, and she is getting better. Also, I can see through whatever she’s hiding.

‘She should forget her inappropriate ideas.’

Zach took off his suit jacket, revealing a gray suit vest underneath. A sleeve strap was tied at the cuff of his shirt. He sat in a chair nearby and stretched his arm to pull Madelyn toward him.

She sat on his lap. Zach tilted his head and played with her long, black hair. Her hair was shorter than it used to be, but Zach was okay with this length.

Nevertheless, he preferred Madelyn with long hair. “If you want to travel, we can go to Roshya for our honeymoon after the wedding. You’ve always wanted to go there, right?”

Madelyn wanted to say that she had visited that place a long time ago and had already seen the Northern Lights she longed to see. Watching the brilliant colors illuminate the sky and ground in the snowy landscape was incredibly beautiful-it was truly unique and unmatched.

However, Madelyn never had the right to say no to him, “Sure.”

At night, dressed in her own pajamas, Madelyn lay beside Zach. She was being held in his arms and could feel his breath near her ear. It seemed like he had already fallen asleep. However, she could not sleep. She grabbed her phone and checked the time and date, realizing there were only three days left until February 14. It was Valentine’s Day and a very special day for Madelyn.

Because February 14 was her death anniversary in her past life.

She thought, ‘Why does it have to be that day?’

“You can’t sleep?” Zach suddenly asked. His voice startled Madelyn. She responded, “I’m not very sleepy. I need to use the bathroom now.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
