The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1118

Blake received a call from the hospital at three o’clock in the afternoon.

She was working on the Eternal Seasons matter. Upon hearing the news of Cecilia being hospitalized again, she immediately delegated her tasks to other staff and drove to the Community Hospital.

After Blake got out of the car, she hurried to Cecilia’s ward. She stood just outside the door when a cup thrown from inside the ward nearly hit her.

Inside the room, Cecilia furiously said, ” Get out, all of you. A bunch of useless people! You can’t even keep a baby alive? Get out of my sight!”

Blake wondered, ‘Child? So Ms. Samford was pregnant? Whose child could it be?”

Previously, when Cecilia was hospitalized, Blake did not know what happened. Since it was a matter involving her superior, Cecilia, and she was just a normal employee, she did not delve deep into understanding the situation.

Blake covered her mouth at the door, looking shocked, not daring to make any sound. Lately, Cecilia had been wearing loose clothes, frequently asking Blake to buy blueberries, and preferred sour food.

Blake had suspected that Cecilia might be pregnant. She never thought it turned out to be true. She pondered, ‘Could this child possibly be… No, it couldn’t be. It absolutely couldn’t be Mr. Jardin’s child. He loves Madelyn so much, he’d never betray her.

‘If he doesn’t love Madelyn, why would he spend so much effort to prepare such a grand wedding? He even handled many of the wedding matters personally.’

A nurse hurriedly walked out of the ward with a medical tray. Blake suddenly snapped back to reality. She quickly composed herself and pretended not to have heard anything.

Blake walked in and saw a mess on the floor. She wondered what had happened here before she arrived.

“M-Ms. Samford, are you okay?”, she stuttered, as if trying to hide her uneasiness. Cecilia masked the anger she had shown just now and put on a pale smile as she looked at Blake. “What’s wrong, Blake? Did I scare you?”

Blake shook her head. “No. Ms. Samford, what happened to your face? Are you okay? Did something happen? Do you need me to call the police for you?”

There were bruises on the corners of Cecilia’s lips, and her left leg was suspended in bandages, suggesting her situation was not good.

Blake could also vaguely see a large area of bruising on Cecilia’s arm under her sleeve.

Cecilia said, “”The police are already handling this matter. Blake, I hope you can keep this matter confidential. The company still has several important projects in hand, and we can’t afford any delays. If you have time, go back to the company now and unplug the USB drive from my computer. I need to work on the contract documents.”

Blake responded, “Considering your current condition, you should focus on resting now. No matter what happens at the company, your health should be the number one priority. You can only spend the money you earn once you’re in good health, am I right?”

When Cecilia heard her last sentence, her gaze toward Blake suddenly intensified. In her mind she saw a childish voice, accompanied by a small face.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
