The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1113

After an hour of surgery, Zach arrived at the hospital and stood outside the operating room with Lana. Zach’s expression was cold as he questioned Lana, “What the hell happened! Why would there be a fire out of nowhere!?”

Lana was still worried about Kai’s injury. Her eyes were still puffy from crying. When Zach interrogated her, Lana could not respond. She did not know why it happened.

Instead, the nanny taking care of Lana explained the situation to Zach. Zach scowled and ordered Kevin, “Find the surveillance footage. Do whatever it takes to find the culprit.”

Kevin nodded and said, “Yes, Mr. Jardin.

Kevin received the surveillance footage of the sixteenth floor. He noticed that the suspect was wearing a mask. Her features were unrecognizable. When the police came to investigate it, the forensic artists could only deduce the person’s features. It was the only clue they had for now.

By the time Madelyn was sent to the ICU, Kevin had returned from his investigation. He reported to Zach, ” Mr. Jardin, we’ve done our investigation. This person is not a nurse from the hospital. Some of them have said that they have never seen her before. It seems someone was impersonating a nurse. Besides, that floor requires an identification card, and the nurse who entered the sixteenth floor was a male. It wasn’t the person we were looking for.”

Zach loosened his tie in frustration and asked, “Which floor is Yvonne on?”

Kevin answered, “The twentieth floor.”

Zach turned around and went toward the elevator. Kevin followed behind and asked, “Do you suspect Ms. Young was the one who planned it, Mr. Jardin?”

He continued, “But she’s still under our surveillance. I don’t think she did it.”

Zach asked him back with a side-eye glance, “Do you know her that well?”

Kevin kept quiet and thought to himself, ‘If Yvonne did order someone to do it, she’d be digging her own grave. Besides, shouldn’t she be focusing on dealing with the burns on her face? She of all people should know that Zach loses his cool when it comes to Madelyn.

A situation like this…I wonder if Zach gets anything out of it?’ Kevin was still unsure whether Yvonne really was involved in this.

At the 1208 sick ward on the twentieth floor, a nurse was helping Yvonne take off her bandages. When she heard her door being kicked open, Yvonne was startled. Yvonne turned around in a panic in fear of letting him see her face. She swiftly covered her face with a scarf.

“Why are you here?” She asked.

Zach had lost all common sense as he went up and grabbed Yvonne by the throat. He pinned her against the wall and glared malevolently at her while she struggled.

The wind blew away the scarf and revealed her ugly face to Zach. He growled, “If I find out that you’re the one who did this, I’ll kill you.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
