The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1088

“You have an interesting way with words. It’s okay; buy and take whatever you need. Consider it a welcoming gift. Cough, cough-” Cecilia stopped talking as she was experiencing a coughing fit.

Blake quickly passed her warm water and said, “Ms. Samford, you should drink some water. I can get you your medication later.”

Cecilia sipped the water and obliged, Mhm.”

Then, Blake walked out of the hospital ward. Cecilia stared at her for a while before retracting her gaze.

‘I must be overthinking it,’ she thought. After that, Blake used Cecilia’s card to buy some clothes and accessories for that night. Then, she went to a stylist.

When Blake met Cecilia again, the latter eyed her with her arms crossed. She asked, “What’s wrong? Did Kevin not tell you to dress this way or ask you to meet clients?”

Blake answered embarrassingly,” Ms. Samford, you think too highly of me. I’m actually quite clumsy, so Mr. Harrison thought I was a nuisance. Hence, I usually just sit in the car and wait.”

When she saw that Cecilia was not speaking, Blake immediately added, ” Ms. Samford, the doctor said you need bed rest. Meeting a client now would be bad for your recovery.”

“It’s just a small problem. The sickness can heal slowly, but money waits for no one. Anyone could take money away from us at any moment,” Cecilia replied.

She then adjusted Blake’s belt and saw the injury on Blake’s wrist. She immediately grabbed her wrist and asked, “How did you get this injury?”

Blake did not know why Cecilia was reacting this way. She answered in shock, “I burned myself when I was younger. Is there a problem, Ms. Samford?”

Cecilia quickly calmed down. Then, she chuckled and replied, “It’s fine. When you’re done, you can come with me.”

After that, Blake drove and saw from the rearview mirror that Cecilia was napping. She proceeded to slow down the car. After forty minutes, they finally arrived at Eternal Seasons.

The scenery at Eternal Seasons was beautiful, and a fragrant scent of wood wafted through the air. As they entered, Blake followed behind Cecilia. They proceeded to walk into a booth under the server’s guidance.

There were mostly men in the booth.

They were dressed in suits and were very ugly. Blake did not know how to negotiate with such people, so she sat beside Cecilia and poured drinks for everyone. While doing so, she helped Cecilia to refuse attempts at drinking alcohol.

Cecilia sat while drinking her herbal tea. On the other hand, Blake was surrounded by four men who kept touching her. She tried to avoid them at the start, but as she got drunk, she did not care anymore.

Cecilia looked on with a smile. She put down her tea and said, “Since the contract has been signed, I will be taking my leave due to my health. I’ll have my assistant keep you company. She’s still young, so please treat her gently.”

“She’s your assistant; of course, we’ll treat her properly. Hopefully, we can collaborate more in the future with you, “One of the clients said.

Cecilia took her bag and stood up before replying, “That would be great.” She then left with the car keys.

Blake was utterly wasted and was carried by the clients. She asked them, ” Where are you guys bringing me? I’m not done drinking.”

Kevin was at the booth opposite theirs, drinking tea. When he heard a familiar voice outside, he froze. From the gap at the door, Kevin noticed Blake outside their booth.

He squinted his eyes and ordered Susan, “Go outside and check it out.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
