The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1085

The entire Jardin Tower housed many of Jardin Corporation’s subsidiaries. Besides finance, real estate, gaming, and so on, Jardin Corporation also owned quite a few literary websites. No one expected Liam to join the literary company of Jardin Corporation.

StartReading Literary was the only company separated from Jardin Corporation. However, it was not an insignificant company. The employees of Jardin Corporation believed Madelyn was the reason Zach decided to do this.

There were rumors among the employees about Madelyn attending the previous book signing event hosted by Liam and even meeting him.

Now, even Liam has started working in the company. The other employees could not believe Zach had gone to such lengths just to make his wife, Madelyn, happy.

Blake was still angry. She did not even feel like going back to her office. She had been staying in Liam’s private office, helping him review drafts. She even napped in his office when she was bored.

Blake was a little shy in the past few days. However, as time passed, she got used to coming to Liam’s office. Going to his office felt just like returning to her home now.

There was a plush sofa in his office. There were also fresh fruits every day. Even the air conditioner could heat the room better than the one in Blake’s office.

When Liam returned from a meeting, he saw Blake was still napping on the sofa. The blanket had slipped to the floor. He looked at the newly revised online literature collaboration agreement before lifting his gaze and quietly walking to cover Blake with the fallen blanket.

Just as he was about to leave, he noticed Blake almost falling off the sofa. He quickly reached out to catch her.

Unexpectedly, this move caused Blake to twist her waist. Now, on her belly, she was about to move when she suddenly said, “Wait, wait… Something is wrong… My waist!”

Liam realized something was wrong and put down the files in his hand. He crouched and tentatively felt her waist, “What’s wrong? Did you twist it?”

“Yes, it hurts. I can’t move!”

“Let me take a look.” Liam massaged her waist, “Does it feel better now?”

Blake felt the gentle massage on her waist and responded, “Yes. A bit harder, please.” She decided to just stay lying down.

“Liam, you were doing fine as an author. Why did you suddenly decide to come work at Jardin Corporation?”

Liam did not answer that question. Blake continued, “Well, this is good too. Now we can work together, and I don’t have to take crowded buses to work anymore!

“Wait, I just realized that during this period, you have been waking me up and telling me to go to work!”

Blake glanced at Liam and saw him earnestly massaging her with his eyes lowered.

She said, “Thank you! You’re an editor- in-chief; I feel awkward having you do this for me. If I continue to slack off during working hours, I might get reported and won’t be able to receive my salary for this month.” Blake hurriedly sat up. She would not have been so exhausted if she were not taking care of Cecilia last night.

Liam responded, “Are you leaving now? Let’s have lunch. It’s already lunch break now.”

Blake replied, “A-Already? I didn’t even realize it. It feels like I haven’t done anything this morning.”

Liam raised his eyebrows and smiled, ” Blake, do you want to work with me? It won’t be too tiring.”

Blake said, “Better not. I don’t understand the novels you guys write. I’m afraid I might make big mistakes.”

“I can teach you.”

Blake and Liam, who were crouching on the floor, locked eyes. At that moment, her heart skipped a beat.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
