The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1076

The next morning, Madelyn felt uneasy as she covered her chest. She had been feeling this way for days, but it became increasingly apparent.

Zach asked, “Are you not feeling well? Should I ask him to come and take a look at you?”

Madelyn looked out of the floor-to- ceiling window as she shook her head absentmindedly, “I always feel like someone’s watching me these days. Every time I ask Margaret to check, there’s no one in that corner.”

Zach took her hand and put it in his palm before rubbing it, “Don’t overthink it. We have bodyguards at home. It’s very safe as long as you don’t leave the villa. Even if there’s any danger, I’ll know immediately.”

Madelyn said, “The day before yesterday, I clearly saw a dark figure passing through that garden. But it disappeared very quickly. It’s so strange.”

Zach responded, “Don’t overthink it. Nothing will happen as long as you stay with me.”

Zach indeed had been protecting her very well. To ensure Madelyn’s safety, the whole of Ventropolis was under stricter scrutiny than before.

He said, “Let’s go downstairs. I’ll cook pasta for you.”

Madelyn shook his hand off with disgust, “I don’t want to eat that. I’ve been eating your pasta these few days. I’m tired of it. I want to eat something else today.”

“Okay,” Zach smiled at her. The next second, he sharply looked at a place not far away. He suddenly emanated a chilling aura, “You go down now, I’ll be down shortly.”

After Madelyn left, Zach grabbed his phone. He stared at a certain position outside the window as he dialed a phone number. The call was answered just before hanging up.

The other person did not say a word.

Zach coldly warned, “Have you had enough fun? This is the last time. Don’t make me intervene personally.”

Zach stopped looking there after saying that. After a while, as the person lurking in the dark saw Zach leave, she slowly walked out. She was wearing a black cap. Her face was burned. Her eyes were gloomy and full of sorrow as she stared at the place where Zach had disappeared.

Yvonne was like a stalker these days. She had been stalking Zach being intimate with Madelyn. She had watched intently as Zach would take Madelyn wherever he went and would even cook for her.

However, when Yvonne had been his wife, including the time when she became his fiancée, she had never experienced anything close to such treatment.

Zach had never done anything for Yvonne.

Tears rolled down Yvonne’s face which was just operated on and still not healed. She felt a sharp pain. However, to her, the pain of being betrayed was more painful than the sharp pain.

She was lost in her thoughts, ‘Zach! I won’t agree to a divorce! I’d rather die than get a divorce! Madelyn, why must you come back after you left?! Why did you take him away from me?! You ruined everything for me.’

When Madelyn looked at that place, the dark figure disappeared from her sight again.

“It’s that person again!”

Madelyn ran out to chase after Yvonne.

Margaret turned around, “Ms. Jent, oh my! Where are you going?”

Zach happened to come down from upstairs. Margaret immediately said to him, ” Mr. Jardin, quickly go and check it out! Ms. Jent said she saw someone. She’s now chasing after the person.”

The scarf on Madelyn dropped when she ran, but she just ignored it. When she ran out, Yvonne had already vanished.

Zach picked up the scarf and held her wrist, “Madelyn, you’re mistaken. There’s no one.”

Madelyn responded, “I saw the person, right there! Zach, don’t you have surveillance cameras? Let’s check the footage.”

Madelyn pointed in a direction and turned her head to look at Zach. She saw the hesitation in his eyes.

“You know who that person is, right?

“I knew it! Who’s that person?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
