The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1014

Madelyn’s eyes, which had shone with recognition, gradually lost their light as she apologized, “Sorry, I mistook you for someone else.”

The young man, seeing Madelyn walking away, hurried after her on his motorcycle. “Miss, where are you going? Let me give you a ride. Or maybe I could get your number?”

Madelyn meandered without direction. “I’m married. My husband would be angry if he knew about this.”

The young man expressed a hint of regret. “Oh, that’s too bad.”

Madelyn offered a weak smile, observing his troubled expression. To an outsider, it might have seemed like the young man had fallen for her at first sight and was now heartbroken to learn she was married.

Despite the faint smile on Madelyn’s face, her eyes remained unemotional. She said, “Go home, young man. At your age, studying should be your priority.”

A black car stopped in front of Madelyn. The window lowered, revealing Frida, who took off her sunglasses, revealing a weary face. She said, “Get in the car!”

Madelyn felt mostly surprised seeing Frida because Frida had been unheard of since the last press conference.

Then, Frida brought Madelyn to the Blue Note Café. To keep a low profile, Frida wore glasses and the bodyguards sat at the tables nearby.

The server brought Frida a coffee and Madelyn warm water. Once alone, Frida said, “Zach did everything to get rid of my daughter and son, all for you! How do you feel about that?”

Frida’s voice was steady yet shaky. Losing both her children overnight had devastated her. In just two weeks, she appeared to have aged significantly.

“Whether I feel comfortable isn’t for you or me to decide. Zach’s interest in me could be fleeting. This position might soon change hands!” Madelyn gently touched her cup. “Do you believe in karma, Ms. Young?”

Frida, caught off guard, was speechless.

Madelyn put down her cup and looked up. “What Zach did will haunt him, not just you. Ethan’s death saddens me too. But I believe Yvonne and Ethan might still be alive. I think you’ve suspected this for some time.

“You risked a lot to meet me today. If you want to say something, be quick. He has me under surveillance and it won’t be long before arrives.”

Frida found the situation ironic. Her daughter had loved Zach for years, and now she had lost her life because of Madelyn. Frida remembered her daughter’s happiness at marrying the man she loved, her dreams of being a perfect wife.

Frida warned with repressed anger in her eyes, “You better hope they’re alive. If they’re dead, I’m coming for you, Madelyn. Yvonne was my treasure. I gave her everything. Now, it’s all ruined because of you!”

Madelyn was suffering in her own way. She thought about how Frida had sacrificed everything for her daughter. Madelyn wished her parents were still alive.

Madelyn said, “Honestly, I’ve always envied Yvonne for having a mother like you, always there for her. She lived freely, knowing she had someone to fall back on, even if she erred.”

Frida retorted sharply, “Don’t be hypocritical! I’ve seen too many like you, saying one thing but meaning another!”

Madelyn looked down, her lips curving slightly, and remained quiet.

Then, Frida slid an old black recorder and a document across the table.

“What’s this?” Madelyn inquired.

“Just listen to it! Madelyn, you and your family are contemptible! Yvonne uncovered this scandalous secret and paid for it with her life. Let’s see you keep smiling after listening to this!” said Frida. She also left a document on the table.

After Frida’s departure, Madelyn contemplated the recorder. ‘Yvonne must have found out something about Zach and gotten into trouble. What was it?’

Madelyn opened the document and saw a DNA test report involving her and Zach. She quickly looked at the results at the bottom.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
