The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1010

Madelyn felt that there was more to the bracelet’s story than Zach had revealed. In her previous life, she had never seen such a jade bracelet on Cecilia, Jadie, or any other woman.

The bracelet appeared old, with noticeable imperfections. Coupled with Zach’s decision to keep it for so many years, this suggested it had special significance to him.

Madelyn began to question her understanding of Zach. She remembered him as a businessman focused on profit, not one to dwell on the past. She just realized there were still secrets about him that she had yet to uncover.

Upon arriving at the banquet venue, Zach’s usual suit and air of superiority were evident. His charm had always captivated women, a trait that had not changed since his youth.

Zach turned to Madelyn and said, “You’ll be fine, Mrs. Jardin.”

Each time Zach called her “Mrs. Jardin”, Madelyn felt a strange emotion. She met his gaze briefly before looking away.

As they entered the bustling banquet hall, it suddenly quieted. Madelyn, usually comfortable in such settings, felt unexpectedly timid.

The employees of Jardin Corporation, including senior executives, stood up as Zach arrived, making him the center of attention.

“Mr. Jardin is here! I won the bet! I told you he’d come,” a woman excitedly exclaimed to a colleague.

“Is that his wife? She’s so beautiful! What a goddess.”

“It’s no surprise. Ms. Jent and Mr. Jardin have known each other for almost twenty years. It’s not strange that they got married. Remember when…”

Madelyn overheard former Azure Corporation employees discussing her past crush on Zach. She was surprised they still remembered.

At the main table, two seats were cleared for Zach and Madelyn. There was a microphone on the table. Zach took it and said, “Don’t mind me, carry on with the program,”

Zach’s short speech made the initially reserved attendees at ease.

Kevin, who was overseeing the event, came over. However, Madelyn did not catch what he said to Zach because of the emcee’s voice blasting over the speakers. Kevin left for a while and returned with a lot of food.

Soon, only Madelyn and Zach remained at their table. The event, filled with performances and skits, was more engaging than Madelyn expected. When Zach peeled a grape and offered it to her, she was startled but accepted it, feeling the curious gazes of others.

“These fruits were air-flown from the south. They’re said to taste good,” Zach commented. Madelyn smiled and said, “Thank you.”

Then Madelyn turned back to the stage, trying to focus away from Zach. She found it hard to concentrate on the performance, and soon she was unable to do so at all.

Zach continued peeling grapes for Madelyn. But she protested, “I can’t eat so much.”

As Zach wiped his hands and reached for a cigarette, he paused, considering her presence. He said, “I’ll step out for a smoke and be back soon.”

Madelyn nodded and overheard someone commenting, “I can’t believe it. The cold Mr. Jardin not only smiled at his wife but also fed her grapes. It must be so blissful to be his wife. I wish I could eat grapes peeled by Mr. Jardin.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
