The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1007

Madelyn knew that Zach was different in this lifetime. He no longer pushed her to the brink of despair.. She acknowledged his past actions and had even been moved by him at times. However, whenever she thought of Dalton, she told herself that it was all just his trickery, a way to manipulate her into compliance.

She had nearly forgotten that Zach’s greatest talent was manipulating emotions. Despite everything, she could not forgive him.

Back in her room, Madelyn took out a pill, thinking, ‘Zach, you’re not the only one with schemes! This is my last chance to leave. I’ve had enough of your game, pretending to comply.’

The next morning was typical for the holiday season, unremarkable compared to those moments at the Jent residence.

While brushing Madelyn’s hair, Zach said, “The visiting ladies are from our partner companies. If they bother you, we can send them away.”

Madelyn, watching him in the mirror, replied, “They brought many gifts and I’ve stored them in the warehouse. Perhaps we should return them.”

“Keep what you want, discard the rest,” Zach said.

Madelyn, feeling a headache, requested, “I don’t feel like socializing for the next few days. Their constant visits are overwhelming.”

The wealthy ladies visited frequently, either for tea or card games. They kept losing their money to Madelyn on purpose as a courtesy to Zach. The sums were substantial, enough for a down payment in Ventropolis. But Madelyn disliked the attention, as well as the fact that she felt obligated to entertain them since they had already visited.

Madelyn suddenly thought of Jadie. ‘I haven’t seen Jadie since I returned to Ventropolis.’

She asked, “When is Jadie returning?”

“She’s recovering and should be back soon. I’ll have Kevin check her schedule later in the afternoon.”

Zach replied, finishing her hair.

‘Recovering? What happened to her?’ Madelyn wondered, asking, “What’s she been doing abroad?”

“She’s been receiving psychiatric treatment,” Zach explained. “Her emotional state got worse, so I sent her abroad for her studies and treatment.”

Madelyn nodded and thought, ‘Jadie’s love for Zach was no less obsessive than Yvonne’s. Both were Zach saw Madelyn was deep in thought. He lifted her onto his lap, and reassured her, “She’ll cope. If not, we’ll send her back for more treatment.”

He tilted her chin up and kissed her. Madelyn protested, “Stop, I don’t want to mess up my clothes. I’m hungry. Get some food and send it to my studio.”

Zach left with a smile, calling her, “Yes, Mrs. Jardin.”

Finally left alone, Madelyn angrily wiped her lips, her indifferent expression reflected in the mirror.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
