The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 1001 by Max Charming

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1001

Regardless of what happened to Jardin Corporation, Madelyn would not interfere. Zach would be fine with Cecilia there. As for Madelyn’s career, Zach had little say. He would only tell her to rest more since she was unwell.

This was the latest she had ever stayed up. By the time she finished, it was already daybreak. The conference call was still on. Besides Madelyn, Clement, and Dorian, the others did not participate in this overtime schedule.

Clement advised her, “Stop working, Madelyn. You should rest soon. Leave the rest of us.”

Madelyn assured him, “It’s fine. There’s just a little more.”

After they finished, they took a break together. Dorian told them, “I’m ordering breakfast. You live too far, Madelyn. I’ll order some for you next time.”

Madelyn replied, “Thanks.”

Just as Dorian finished ordering, someone came to the conference call and said, “Clement, something’s wrong. Dawn and Crystal got admitted to the hospital for alcohol poisoning.”

Clement asked, “What? What happened?”

Madelyn lifted her head when she heard this. The person answered, “I’m not sure. I’ve just received a call from the hospital.”

Then, Madelyn said in the conference call, “I’ll go check on them first. Both of you can finish the rest.”

Clement added seriously, “I’ll go with you.”

Clement was worried she could not handle it. Her health was poor, and they had just worked throughout the night without any rest. He might be able to assist if anything happened at the hospital. Besides, Clement was the person in charge of the studio. Should anything happen to his subordinates, he could not leave them be.

Madelyn agreed, “Okay.”

The moment Madelyn stood up, her vision turned dark. Had she not held onto the table, she would have fainted. After recovering from her dizziness, she went to her bedroom to change her clothes. With a jacket in hand, she prepared to go downstairs.

The servants had already prepared breakfast for her. They asked her in shock, “Mrs. Jardin, why are you up so early today? Do you need to go out? Why don’t you have breakfast first.”

Madelyn told them, “There is no need. I have some urgent business, so I must go out soon.”

When Madelyn reached the door, Zach’s cold voice rang from behind, “Stand right there! You’re not allowed to go outside.”

Madelyn ignored him. After putting on her jacket, she took the scarf from the rack and walked out. Jordan had already parked the car outside. When she was about to get in the car, Zach grabbed her arm and dragged her back into the house.

“Are you ignoring me?” Zach asked. His expression was ugly, and his eyes were red from burning the midnight oil. His reddened eyes came from working on the thirty billion dollar

project.

“You’re hurting me. Let go,” Madelyn demanded.

Zach let go of her and said, “You should rest after you finish your work. As for the studio…”

Madelyn interrupted him, “That’s enough! I don’t need your fake affection. Mind your own business.”

The servants saw this and left quickly. They thought, ‘Why are they fighting again?’

Before Madelyn could walk another few steps, Zach pulled her back, “I won’t repeat myself again. You’re not allowed to go out! Now, sit down and eat your breakfast!”

Madelyn calmly fought back, “Did you cause both of them to have alcohol poisoning?”

Zach kept quiet. He did not plan to speak, and Madelyn could already figure it out. “Do you do anything else besides bullying? You only got to this position because of Cecilia, yet what have you done with this power? I know you don’t like badmouthing, but that’s my issue. I didn’t care about it, so why did you interfere? What makes you think you can do that? You forced them to drink alcohol and punished them. Now, they’re in the hospital with alcohol poisoning. Are you happy now?”

Madelyn continued, “I know, you’re always the kind man while I’m the ignorant one. Had they gossiped about Cecilia, they wouldn’t have ended up with just alcohol poisoning. I’m not that fragile. I’m not so easily offended by a few words from other people. They are my studio’s employees, juniors, and Prof. Monet’s students. Do you think I can look them in the eye when I see them next time? What will Prof. Monet think of me? I know we’re not the same, Zach, but why can’t you think from my perspective for once?”

Although everyone in Ventropolis feared him, Madelyn did not. She stared deep into his eyes. Zach was shaken and replied, “Very well. I was brash this time. I will compensate them after this and try not to make it difficult for you.”

Madelyn did not expect him to give in. She did not say anything more but assumed Zach agreed to this because of her health.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
