“What? Cancel all collaborations?” Benny Assex and Madame Joanne’s facial expressions changed drastically. Their knees were going soft, and they could barely stand. By now, their projects would have already started. In order to get a lower price, Assex Construction had ordered large bulks of materials. In fact, the capital investment they made was even greater than before, they invested nearly all of Assex Construction’s funds. If you weren’t Madame Joanne, I would ’ve slapped you!” He fumed. “If there’s nothing between the two of you, why are you helping her?” Madame Joanne’s face turned pale. “That’s because she’s my sister-in-law. But if you want this money, you’d have to beat me in court first,” Charles said before bidding farewell to Alex Rockefeller and Dorothy Assex. By then, Assex Construction would’ve closed down. Madame Joanne sat on the ground and started crying loudly. Benny felt immensely remorseful for his actions. However, Alex and Dorothy felt no sympathy for the two of them. The Assex family had stormed into this villa proudly, but they now left with their heads hung low. Claire was so engrossed in the thought of the wealth she would be surrounded with in the future that she had forgotten that Alex had slapped her earlier. Alex held Dorothy’s hand as they went upstairs. “Honey, was what Charles said true? Are we really going to sign the contract tomorrow?” Dorothy still felt as if she was in a dream. “That’s what Charles said. We’ll do it. Since the Assex family treated you in such a way, it’s time to teach them a memorable lesson. Otherwise, that old woman will always try to harm us in different ways.” Dorothy sat Alex down on a chair and started gently massaging his shoulders to reward him. Alex was stunned. He had never been treated like this before. Although Dorothy’s eyes glistened at the thought of her future lifestyle, she was still too kind not to feel sorry for her family. “But if this happened, Assex Construction would go bankrupt. Within a month, they’d run out of capital and won’t be able to pay off their debts. Even the bank would forcefully reclaim their assets.
