The Legacy of the Alpha King: Hiding his Secret Twins Chapter 93 by Ebony Woods

Evelyn pov

I watch Reuben leave, as do many of the guests. Many would know that I am the Luna of the Red Stone pack, my anonymity now completely gone. The Silver Moon Alpha who is the ex wife of the Red Stone Alpha.

But we weren’t ex’s any more, and that hadn’t really been confirmed until just now. Until he claimed my lips as his in front of all the guests.

Something felt wrong…I couldn’t put my finger on it, Reuben left in such a hurry just now, and for once didn’t argue with me regarding his own warriors. Which meant he was worried enough about something back at the pack in order to take his warriors with him. The pack’s ultimate protectors. Which increased my concern for him possibly walking into danger.

I could now feel Cassandra in the pack bond. A new warmth added to my soul, her pull on the pack sitting nicely in my chest waiting to be called upon, waiting to be cherished.

I mind-linked her as soon as I felt the link form into place. I wanted her to know I would do anything within my power to support her and Noah, as my beta couple.

I could feel Noah’s happiness, it was practically shining off him. A beacon of light so bright that the moon goddess herself could sense it from the night time sky.

He was introducing Cassandra to his fellow beta contacts. Betas liked to network just like alphas and lunas, help build upon those pack connections.

Milo and Candice were talking with them, who were awaiting their alpha and luna ceremony to officially take the Blue Moon leader status, but for now they were already carrying out most of the duties. I could see Candice’s growing bump under her black dress, news that wasn’t known outside of their pack as far as I am aware. Perhaps they were waiting for their ceremony, just in case.

One thing is for certain, I’ll be sure to repay Candice for the sweet tables at these events when their little one is old enough to eat sugar too. That is exactly where my children are right now, the sweet table…filling up their goodie bags for the journey home tomorrow.

Pierce I had barely seen tonight, after blagging a second helping of dessert from one of the waitresses…I think he has now secretly left with her. Alphas! If little Pierce’s are running around in nine month’s time, he only has himself to blame.

After being asked to dance by a number of single alphas and betas, I decide to call it a night with Rex and Elspeth. I didn’t mind the idea of dancing but after that photo, I didn’t want to risk it. I now know it was fake but someone could easily take a picture of me dancing and manipulate the image, it was scary really. I also couldn’t get Reuben’s exit out of my mind.

“Everything okay?” Noah places his hand in my shoulder, which stops me in my tracks. I look up at him, I hadn’t realised I was pacing the floor by the sweet table.

“What’s wrong?” He can always read me like a book but this is his occasion, his ceremony. I wasn’t going to undo all the magic created tonight.

“Nothing.” I blink, holding my breath, trying to keep the truth hidden in the depths of my stomach.

“Evelyn?” He quirks an eyebrow at me but it’s Cassandra who marches over demanding to know the truth who makes me reconsider telling them.

“We are family now are we not?” She was using my own words against me.

“You need to tell us so that we can help you and the kids.” She seems to be taking her newly appointed female beta position passionately.

“Reuben left with the warriors. He didn’t say a lot but….”

“But?”

“…I don’t know, somethings feels off. I’m worried he may be in danger.”

“You want to go to the Red Stone pack? Now?” Noah asks with a moan as he removes his glasses and rubs his eyes.

“We will all go…” Cassandra offers but I cut her off.

“No, that’s not necessary.”

“Evelyn, you have reason for concern… the last few weeks can only confirm that you may not be imagining it. We will go together. If nothing is wrong, then it’s just a waste of petrol.”

Reuben POV

As I drive into the pack, I find the gate is unmanned and opened. I open the car window as an eery silence hits me. What had happened? I couldn’t feel any pack deaths so I knew there hadn’t been a rogue attack, killing all members, unless the rogues were waiting for my return to slaughter us all together?

I drive my red sports car up to the alpha house, shocked to find men that should be on the gate standing outside the house.

“The gate is unmanned, get the FUCK back there now!” I growl through the mind-link to them, their necks submitting to my harsh and angry command. I was just as annoyed at Nate for letting this happen on his watch.

I head into the house in the direction of my office and what awaits me almost shocks my own werewolf out of me.

Nate tensely standing over my desk trying to prevent his own wolf from shifting, as my father sits at my desk. His feet up as if he still owns it.

The slow snarl that leaves my mouth, showing my teeth is what announces my arrival apparently. Surely he would have known by my car arriving, but he did like to fuck with your mind.

“Ah my boy, glad you could finally join us!” His smile doesn’t reach his eyes because I know it is false, he doesn’t mean it, it’s all for show.

“What are you doing here?” I bite down a deep growl that wants to escape me.

“I’m sorry Alpha, he was quite forceful. The men remained close by, they refused to go back to the gate until you returned.” Nate’s apologetic voice rings out in my mind.

“That’s quite alright Nate, I know what he is like. You may leave if you want.” I offer, I wouldn’t want anyone to feel they need to be in his presence unless they had to. Again, this goes back to what type of Alpha King he was.

“I’ll stay.” Nate responds not trusting the man either.

“Can’t a father check in on his son once in a while?” He presses his closed hands towards his face, resting his chin in a move to try and claim dominance from the reunion. Well tough shit, I was the Alpha King now.

I could feel someone pushing on my mind-link but now really wasn’t the time. I had enough going on as it is. When the pack member continues to push on my link, and not Nate’s I decide to answer.

“What?” I moan through the link whilst keeping my eyes fixed on my Father.

“Alpha….Alpha Evelyn has arrived. I’ve granted her access, she’s with the betas and the children.”

The same pack member I had just ordered to return to the gate informs me. He must have shifted and run there, feeling bad he left his post unguarded.

Fuck! I really didn’t want her to be reacquainted with him, he was the dark to her light.

“What do we have here?” His ears prick up as a number of car doors slam shut outside the front of the alpha house. She marches in like the alpha she is, determined to find me and what made me leave with lack of details.

What I curse internally at is she also brings Rex and Elspeth in. Her eyes hold a deep green colour, like the top of a forest showing its anger against the wind for making the trees move, disturbing their tranquil slumber as her eyes gaze upon my father.

Noah and Cassandra already performing their beta couple duties as they come up behind her. The perfect example of why I need the mind-link with my mate, to warn her to turn around and leave.

I look to my father whose eyes watched Evelyn’s entrance, his eyes tracing her up and down. Not the same wife he saw me marry four year’s okay. I growl at his stare when they land upon her chest, her cleavage still slightly showing from her red dress. She didn’t even change, none of them have. They are still wearing the outfits as if they jumped in the car straight after me. Driving like idiots to get here this quickly.

I look outside the window to find her warriors conversing with mine, their eyes locked on the house. It would seem she only brought one car of warriors, the rest still at the Blue Moon pack.

A tension forms in the room, Evelyn refusing to remove her eyes from the previous Alpha King that is staring her down. He breaks it first, but only to look at the next Alpha King standing next to her.

Rex can’t hold his stare, I don’t blame him, he is only four and Father has a dangerous glare. Evelyn very smoothly places both children behind Noah and Cassandra before angling in front of them all. The movement snaps my father’s eyes away from Rex before looking back at Evelyn.

“Is there a problem?” He smirks with a raised eyebrow.

“No, no problem. They just don’t know you…and I’d like to keep it that way.”

As time passedmore guests arrived to give their congratulations. The entire venue was filled with people. A famous entertainer was also putting on a performance on the main stage. Below, the guests were talking and laughing over some wine. “Dahlia, this is a nice place. You would be the owner in the future, right?” Florence glanced around, thrilled. “Mom, I’m just partners with the Harmon family. I’m merely a secondary stakeholder even if we established a company together,” Dahlia explained. “That’s good enough. Once we get on the same boat with the Harmon family, we won’t have to worry in the future!” Florence was delighted. “Sis! Your career is booming right now. You must have made a lot of money, right? When are you getting me a nice car?” James smiled flatteringly beside her. “I give you quite a lot of pocket money every month. Is it not enough?” Dahlia asked unhappily. She did not like giving handouts, even to her own brother. “It used to be enough. But I’ve invested all my savings into Nolan Pharmaceuticals, so now I’m broke,” James said exasperatedly. “Then you just sit and wait for the dividends,” Dahlia said dismissively. As she turned around, she caught sight of Dustin and Natasha out of the corner of her eye. “You invited Dustin here? What a downer!” James followed her line of view and frowned. “I didn’t,” Dahlia denied flatly. “He came without any invitationThat’s so shameless!” James grimaced. Then hist gaze landed on Natasha, and he immediately perked up. “Hey, who’s that beauty next to him? She’s stunning!” “What beauty? She’s vixen!” Florence continued rather calmly, “She was the one causing trouble at the Jackson Groupand I nearly slapped her!” “It was her?” James‘ tone turned cold, and he spat, “Shit! Dustin is so heartless. How dare he bring this bitch to such an important occasion today? He’s such an eyesore!” “LookDahlia, he’s finally revealed his true colors. It’s a shame. You were so nice to him, yet he’s so ungrateful, and even tried to ruin this occasion. I have to teach him a lesson today!” As she spoke, Florence got ready to confront him “Mom! Today is the opening ceremony, don’t cause any trouble!” Dahlia quickly grabbed her mother. She knew once her mother started making a scene, it would not end well. “Hmph! I’ll let him get away with it this time!” Although Florence was very upset, she tried to calm herself down. No matter what, she couldn’t embarrass her own daughter. “Dahlia, you’re here?” Chris brought Jeff and walked over with a smile. “Here, I want to introduce you to someone.” “This is Mr. Anderson’s son, Jeff!” Chris stretched out his hand as if he was presenting something valuable. “So, you’re Jeff Anderson? It’s a great pleasure to meet you!” James immediately tried. to curry favor with him. This was Swinton’s most distinguished elite, and he had at much more respected status than him. “I didn’t expect you to come, Mr. Anderson! The Nicholson family is honored!” Florence was smiling broadly. Needless to say, Mr. Anderson’s son had to be some big shot. “Nice to meet you, Jeff.” Dahlia smiled and greeted him warmly. “You must be Ms. Nicholson. It seems the rumors are true, you’re really stunning!” Although he had never met Dahlia, he had heard of her. She was one of the Four Beauties in Swinton and a rising star.
