The Legacy of the Alpha King: Hiding his Secret Twins Chapter 13 by Ebony Woods

Reuben POV

I hear Michelle cursing under her breath as she walks past my closed office door and up the stairs. I know I shouldn’t but I smirk as she calls Vicky a bitch under her breath. I could hear Vicky groaning in the kitchen, letting her wolf get the better of her. Even when younger she didn’t have the best control of her wolf. I had offered to train her but she refused, saying she was fine and just laughed off her wolf’s reactions to certain things.

I log on to my emails to find an email from a pack that is a member of my alliance.

Fuck, not another!

The alpha writes his regret that he has decided to withdraw from the Red Stone greater pack alliance and join a new venture.

A new venture? He means this fucking Silver Moon pack that kept stealing my smaller packs. What exactly was their game?

“Nate!” I roar knowing he hadn’t gone far. This was the other news he wanted to tell me, I’m sure of it.

“Alpha?” He flinches as he walks back in to my office.

“What the fuck is this?” I turn my computer monitor to show the email from the pack leaving my authority.

Nate doesn’t answer me at first, he’s trying to word his reply in a way that won’t aggravate my already out of control burning anger from getting worse.

“Reuben…Reuben I’m here, what’s the matter now Nate?” She re-enters the room and I see Nate fist his hands by his side.

“It looks like I’ve lost another pack to this shitty Silver Moon Alpha.”

“Who is this alpha Reuben? Why can’t you find anything on him?” Vicky touches my shoulder, trying to calm my anger.

“He is keeping himself well hidden…” I

seethe turning the computer screen

back to me.

“You need to go there…” Vicky starts but is cut off by my beta.

“Alpha.” Nate takes a step towards me, trying to cut her off before she goes off on a tandem. I hold my hand out stopping him from speaking further.

“What do you mean?” I ask of Vicky,

her words having peaked my interest.

“He won’t come to you, so you need to go to him….scope him out.” She says, enjoying my full undivided attention for once. She pushes her tits out making them perkier for my benefit.

“Alpha, I would suggest refraining from taking such an aggressive approach, it could be considered an act of war.” Nate sighs.

“Not if he goes alone it won’t.” She seethes out to Nate.

I mean, her plan wasn’t exactly a bad idea. I could stay in wolf form, watch from the boundaries, just to gather information.

When in wolf form I was untraceable, it was something my father at least taught me. I was the best of the best, an Alpha King after all. I doubt this alpha

has the same training or skill set as me.

“Or I could come with you…” She suggests, crossing her arms just below. her chest and now pushing her tits up.

“No I think it best I will go…. I trust you will be able to manage the pack in my absence.”

“Of course…” Vicky answers but I was actually speaking to Nate.

“I meant Nate, Vicky. He is my beta!”

“Of course Alpha, whatever you wish.” I don’t miss the slight quirking of the eyebrow he kicks Vicky who seems disheartened by my choice.

“Sir, there is one more thing…” Nate. gives me a look of foreboding.

“Just spit it out!”

“The Blue Moon pack…They have been approached by the Silver Moon pack for an alliance. They have responded to say they are in talks with them but nothing has been decided yet.”

“That’s Candice pack.” I look to him with my own personal perplexity.

“I know alpha.”

“We’ll see about that!” Vicky all but spits as she storms out of my office, heading towards her private rooms.

“Reuben…Are you sure you want to go there. I know how hard….”

“Prepare for my leave Nate, I will head out tomorrow morning.” I order. “Yes Alpha, right away.” He nods before turning and making his way out of my office.

“Oh and Nate…” My wolf channels forward, reminding Nate who was exactly in charge.

“I expect you to remain respectful to

Vicky in my absence.”

Evelyn POV

It was now evening time and I had spent the day catching up on pack administration and checking the security rotas. I shamefully hadn’t planned dinner yet and was thinking what to do for food.

“Pizza please…” His little voice comes out from nowhere. How did I not detect his presence, I must have really been concentrating on my work load.

“Excuse me?” I look up from my desk

to see Rex cheekily smiling at me in the office doorway.

“You haven’t thought about dinner yet. You are thinking what type of takeaway …I think pizza.” He places his finger to his chin and taps it a few times, before he walks in and rests against the desk.

“Now how do you know that?” I chuckle at him for being completely right.

“I know you Mum…” He sighs.

“…you work too hard. When I’m old enough I’ll take over so you can rest.” He straightens his back really meaning what he says. My sweet little warrior.

“I work hard to secure everyone’s safety who put their trust in me, in us.” I lean over and gently stroke his chin.

“It makes you tired…” He sighs looking at me with an expression older than his years. Did I look tired? I didn’t feel anymore tired than usual. Being a mum and an alpha was tiring but I thought I was managing okay.”I’m fine darling, you don’t need to worry about me…’ ”

“Evelyn?” I hear Noah call me from the kitchen.

“Go ask your sister what toppings she would like.” I wink at Rex before he punches the air in excitement and runs out the room to find his sister.

“Evelyn?” Noah’s voice enters my mind.

“In the office.” I reply to him just before I hear his footsteps coming down the hallway.

I log off my emails and switch off the computer, calling it a day. Just as I put secure documents away back in the safe Noah walks in.

“There you are… You’ll never guess what’s happened?” His voice was that of concern.

“The Blue Moon pack has received a call from the Luna of the Red Stone

pack…”

“Luna?” I gasp, careful to control my

suddenly shaking hands.

“Yes! Apparently, she called them,

threatening them that if they did

decide to leave the alliance that they

would regret it.”

“Sounds about right.” I murmur which I’m pretty certain was inaudible.

“They have emailed to say they are too afraid to leave now, that they have no choice but to decline your offer.”

Choice? They’ve lost their choice due to Vicky’s and Reuben’s threatening behaviour. Everyone should always have a choice and that choice should be respected.

“Give me their number?” I command of Noah.

“Sorry what?” He looks at me perplexed.

“Give me the direct telephone number to the alpha to the Blue Moon pack. I’m going to call him directly.”

“But Evelyn, you’ll compromise your identity…” Noah’s face pales as his eyes widen.

Maybe it was time. If I could guarantee that the alphas would keep my identity hidden, then maybe it was time for me to start coming forward. It had been four years after all! They didn’t need to know about my children, everyone here thought they were Noah’s, why would an external pack think any different.

Yes, I have made up my mind. I couldn’t hide behind anonymity anymore, I needed to use action when a diplomatic approach clearly wasn’t working.

“Noah…Perhaps now it is time.”

As time passedmore guests arrived to give their congratulations. The entire venue was filled with people. A famous entertainer was also putting on a performance on the main stage. Below, the guests were talking and laughing over some wine. “Dahlia, this is a nice place. You would be the owner in the future, right?” Florence glanced around, thrilled. “Mom, I’m just partners with the Harmon family. I’m merely a secondary stakeholder even if we established a company together,” Dahlia explained. “That’s good enough. Once we get on the same boat with the Harmon family, we won’t have to worry in the future!” Florence was delighted. “Sis! Your career is booming right now. You must have made a lot of money, right? When are you getting me a nice car?” James smiled flatteringly beside her. “I give you quite a lot of pocket money every month. Is it not enough?” Dahlia asked unhappily. She did not like giving handouts, even to her own brother. “It used to be enough. But I’ve invested all my savings into Nolan Pharmaceuticals, so now I’m broke,” James said exasperatedly. “Then you just sit and wait for the dividends,” Dahlia said dismissively. As she turned around, she caught sight of Dustin and Natasha out of the corner of her eye. “You invited Dustin here? What a downer!” James followed her line of view and frowned. “I didn’t,” Dahlia denied flatly. “He came without any invitationThat’s so shameless!” James grimaced. Then hist gaze landed on Natasha, and he immediately perked up. “Hey, who’s that beauty next to him? She’s stunning!” “What beauty? She’s vixen!” Florence continued rather calmly, “She was the one causing trouble at the Jackson Groupand I nearly slapped her!” “It was her?” James‘ tone turned cold, and he spat, “Shit! Dustin is so heartless. How dare he bring this bitch to such an important occasion today? He’s such an eyesore!” “LookDahlia, he’s finally revealed his true colors. It’s a shame. You were so nice to him, yet he’s so ungrateful, and even tried to ruin this occasion. I have to teach him a lesson today!” As she spoke, Florence got ready to confront him “Mom! Today is the opening ceremony, don’t cause any trouble!” Dahlia quickly grabbed her mother. She knew once her mother started making a scene, it would not end well. “Hmph! I’ll let him get away with it this time!” Although Florence was very upset, she tried to calm herself down. No matter what, she couldn’t embarrass her own daughter. “Dahlia, you’re here?” Chris brought Jeff and walked over with a smile. “Here, I want to introduce you to someone.” “This is Mr. Anderson’s son, Jeff!” Chris stretched out his hand as if he was presenting something valuable. “So, you’re Jeff Anderson? It’s a great pleasure to meet you!” James immediately tried. to curry favor with him. This was Swinton’s most distinguished elite, and he had at much more respected status than him. “I didn’t expect you to come, Mr. Anderson! The Nicholson family is honored!” Florence was smiling broadly. Needless to say, Mr. Anderson’s son had to be some big shot. “Nice to meet you, Jeff.” Dahlia smiled and greeted him warmly. “You must be Ms. Nicholson. It seems the rumors are true, you’re really stunning!” Although he had never met Dahlia, he had heard of her. She was one of the Four Beauties in Swinton and a rising star.
