When Claire finished speaking, her face was already red to the point where it looked like it would explode.
Claire was completely humiliated in front of the crowd.
Mrs. Carter did not show her any mercy and smiled at Nicole.
“Nicole, for my sake, tell your boyfriend not to get angry. Just think of it as a joke. We welcome you to this birthday banquet. Don’t spoil your good mood.”
Nicole glanced at Mrs. Carter. There was no hint of reluctance on her face, and she did not care about Claire’s reputation at all.
If Mrs. Carter could say such smooth words, it meant that she knew which was more important.
Since Claire already apologized, Nicole did not want to continue making a fuss.
She looked at Clayton. “Are you satisfied with this outcome?”
Clayton raised his brows. “Quite.”
He did not care about her apology. What made him happiest was that Nicole always stood up for him. She did not care even if it was her friend’s relative.
It meant that in her heart, Clayton was worth more.
Nicole smiled. “That’s good. In that case, I’ll just let the matter rest. Mrs. Levine, make sure to watch yourself in the future.”
Her final words were very unruly. Claire was furious.
However, Claire could not express her feelings. She could not afford to offend Nicole.
The last time Nicole helped the Carter family, Old Master Carter clearly said that they had to give way to the Stanton family in the future. They had to remember the Stanton family’s grace for life.
Nicole stopped paying attention to them and held Clayton’s arm with a smile.
“Let’s go. I’ll bring you to Grandpa Carter.” Clayton smiled and nodded.
The backs of the two departing people were extraordinarily well-matched.
Claire glared indignantly and was seen clearly by Julie.
She smiled meaningfully.
Mrs. Carter breathed a sigh of relief and glared at Ian.
“Was it fun watching the show?”
Ian smiled casually. ” I can only watch the show. If I get involved, it’ll make it seem like the Carter family is bullying others.”
He walked over with a smile and squeezed Mrs. Carter’s shoulders, “Aunt Claire only apologized, and she was the only one humiliated. Fortunately, the Carter family’s reputation is still intact!”
Mrs. Carter looked at Ian with an unpleasant expression.
“Ian, you…”
Ian glanced at her and spoke with a vague smile.
“Aunt Claire, you deserved this. Do you know who that man is? He’s not just Nicole’ s boyfriend. He’s also the only person who can go against Eric Ferguson. His name is Clayton Sloan, but not many people know about his background. Do you know how many strings my grandfather pulled to be able to invite him over?”
Claire’s face slowly grew pale.
“What? Why didn’t you say so earlier?”
Mrs. Carter also looked at him in shock. “Yes, why didn’t you say that sooner?”
Ian withdrew his hand and stood there. His lips curled in a cold and willful smile.
“ If I had said it sooner, you wouldn’t have framed him but have framed someone else instead, right? That’s such a disgusting move, but you actually played that trick during my grandfather’s birthday banquet. Auntie, what’s going on in that mind of yours? I think from now on, you shouldn’t show your face in events hosted by the Carter family, lest you drag our family into your mess.”
After Ian finished speaking, he gave Claire a cold look and walked away.
Claire’s face turned from red to white. It was quite
wonderful.
“What… What was that supposed to mean? How could he say that to me?”
Mrs. Carter swallowed back the words she wanted to scold Ian with and looked at Claire.
It seemed like what Ian said made some sense.
Mrs. Carter had always tolerated her bratty sister and had been used to it.
However, it seemed like Claire was not just bratty and willful today.
Was Claire so vile that even Ian could not stand it anymore?
