Dexter remained still, his breath heavy, as he watched the burning cigarette at his fingertips.

After a while, as the sun began to rise outside, a burst of light fell into Dexter’s eyes. He squinted and asked, “How did it feel to have a wedding ceremony with Zendaya?”
Caught off guard by the sudden question, Calvin stuttered a bit, his response somewhat nonchalant. “I’m not quite like her. It was merely a matter of convenience. I didn’t feel much.”
After saying this, he realized that Dexter and Heather had been in the same situation all along.
“I had promised to give Josie a wedding, but I failed to do so.”
Now, however, he was to have a wedding with another woman.
The corners of his eyes, tinged with red, brimmed with endless regret.

They brushed past a Mercedes on the street. The man inside the car, propping up his face, softly instructed, “Send a team to follow them.”
“Yes, Mr. Bastille!”
Afterward, Morgan flipped his phone and dialed a number. The call connected on the other end, but no words were spoken.
“Where is Josie?” He cut straight to the chase. His icy voice momentarily stunned the person on the other end. “I couldn’t find anything. Heather didn’t go anywhere other than Olsen Residence.”
“Olsen Residence… So, it’s at Olsen Residence, then.” Morgan snorted coldly. “You need to find a way to search. Heather is ruthless. Josie cannot die.”
There was no response at first. After a while, Morgan asked in a deep voice, “Laura?”
“And then, if Josie were to emerge, she would eventually reclaim everything that belongs to her. What will you do about the things you want then?”
Morgan leaned back in his chair, pressing a finger to his brow. “As long as Dexter marries Heather, she will be left with no options. What I must protect at this moment is her life.”
“The risk is substantial.”
“Laura, you talk too much. I don’t like it.”
After a moment of silence, Laura finally spoke. “If Josie finds out that you’re also plotting against her, she will hate you.”
