Calvin locked the door from the inside and forcefully took advantage of Mallory.
With each thrust, he punished her for her audacity. Finally, Calvin pressed down on her lower abdomen and thrust even harder as he said, “We’re breaking up.”
Mallory trembled in intense pleasure as she said through clenched teeth, “No!”
Refusing to pleasure her any longer, Calvin tried to pull away. However, she grabbed his hands and pleaded pitifully, “Please, I beg you.”
He pinched Mallory’s soft cheek, as if he was playing with a toy.
It wasn’t until she opened the door that Mallory, whose eyes were still filled with desire, saw Zendaya standing outside. She had to lean against the wall just to keep herself steady. After a long pause, tears began to roll down her cheeks.
“You b*tch!”
Mallory sacrificed herself just to upset Zendaya. After achieving her goal, however, she found no joy in it. Therefore, she realized this relationship should not continue.
After the Barrett family’s birthday banquet, Mallory went back to school as usual. Occasionally, she would hear news about Calvin, but given the vastness of Wavery, it was not surprising that they didn’t cross paths.
Her mother called to urge her, “You hurt her last time, and she’s still in the hospital. Find some time to visit her, do you understand me?”
Mallory stared blankly at the reagent in her hand. “Do you really enjoy pleasing others that much?”
In the end, she realized she had no right to say such things. After all, she had once degraded herself to the level of a dog just to please Calvin.
The assistant closed the door, and the heavy curtains automatically opened. Zendaya squinted her eyes, and the last bit of light disappeared from her sight. Leaning against the back of the chair, Calvin crossed his legs, his expression as nonchalant as usual.
His gaze fell on her ethereal legs. Once destined to shine on the international dance stage, these legs now struggled with even the most basic daily tasks in her later life. It was truly a pity.
“Why would a perfectly fine woman do something like that?”
From a young age, Zendaya feared Calvin the most. This man always maintained a calm facade, but his schemes behind the scenes were always chilling.
“You should tell Mallory that.”
Calvin’s expression grew unpleasant when he heard her mention that woman. The assistant handed Zendaya a document, which she opened with a puzzled look on her face. The title read in bold letters: Divorce Agreement.
Zendaya’s fair hands trembled violently as she suddenly looked up and asked, “You want a divorce? You want to divorce me because of Mallory?”
Their marriage had been a hasty affair, and they had lived separately after the wedding. Calvin never laid a finger on her, and their marriage was in name only. Although Zendaya didn’t understand his reasons for this, she genuinely admired Calvin. Even though they never had sex, and he was still supporting Mallory outside, Zendaya felt honored just being acknowledged as Calvin’s wife.
Why would he suddenly divorce me?
Calvin furrowed his brows and said, “Don’t you know yet? The person responsible for the car accident when you were eighteen was an employee of my company.”
That casual remark shattered Zendaya’s entire world. She stared at the man before her as if she was looking at a monster, and for a long time, she couldn’t utter a single word.
“It was you?”
Zendaya tried to grab him, but Calvin subtly sidestepped, causing her to fall clumsily to the ground. Her eyes were bloodshot as she questioned him resentfully, “Why? I was about to go abroad! Why did you have to ruin my future?”
From his elevated position, Calvin watched her struggle like a lifeless object, his face expressionless as he spoke.
“You were fifteen the year Yoel turned three. You took him to play in the back of the mountain, but he accidentally stepped into a void and fell into the pond. You were terrified and couldn’t save him. Afraid of taking the blame, you ran away. Yoel drowned, and it was ruled as an accident due to his playful nature. Since then, Old Mr. Barrett has never celebrated his birthday again.”
Calvin slowly knelt down and turned Zendaya’s trembling face to meet his gaze.
“I’ve always wanted to ask you this. Why didn’t you call for help at the time? He was only three years old!”
Yoel was the apple of the Barrett family’s eye, and he always clung fondly to Calvin every day.
During their last meeting before his business trip, Yoel clung to him, playfully pleading, “Calvin, could you take some pictures of bears for me when you’re in Summerbank?”
Calvin, full of youthful spirit, said, “What’s so hard about that? When I get some free time, I’ll take you there so you can see them with your own eyes.”
When he brought home the pictures of the bears, the person who asked for them was gone, and the Barrett family was plunged into grief.
“You knew… You actually knew… How could you possibly have known that?”
Zendaya trembled all over, a fear stemming from her secret being discovered.
In an instant, it became clear why Calvin chose to marry her and why he wanted Mallory to be involved.
All of this was just to torment her to the extreme.
