“M-Mr. Carter… I don’t know if she… she…”
“What about her?” Arnold asked, a sly smile appearing on his lips. He lifted the woman’s long earring with a flirtatious gesture and said, “You’ve done well. You know how to read the room.”
The woman was still trembling. “Mr. Carter, I was wrong. I won’t make decisions unilaterally anymore.”
“How long have you been at the club?”
“Three… Three years.”
Arnold nodded slightly, then suddenly, he forcefully ripped off the woman’s earring. She let out a piercing scream as blood gushed out.
“Take her to the seaside.”
Upon giving the decisive order, his subordinates immediately stepped forward, escorting the screaming and pleading woman away.
Blood splattered all over the corridor. Josie trembled as she watched everything unfold in disbelief. After a moment, Mallory was also taken away. Arnold took a tissue and calmly wiped his fingers, his gaze fixed on Josie.
“Why are you crying?”
She reached up to touch her face, only to realize she had been crying when she felt the cold and moist sensation.
“My heart once softened at the sight of your tears. I even considered giving up everything to take you away.” He crouched in front of Josie, wiping away her tears with his fingertips. “But now, your tears no longer affect me.”
“You b*stard!” Josie roared.
Arnold effortlessly lifted her around the waist and carried her straight up to the penthouse suite.
“I don’t expect to hear about my father’s whereabouts from you. Instead, I’m more inclined to take action against Dexter.”
Josie was thrown forcefully onto the bed, causing her to bounce. She tried to escape immediately, but Arnold firmly held her in place. As his breath closed in on her, he said, “Dexter is far out at sea. You won’t be able to leave tonight.”
Josie looked at him incredulously. “You wouldn’t dare.”
Arnold caught her fidgeting hands, effortlessly removing her jacket. “Do you think Dexter would regret taking my father away if he knew about this?”
With that thought in mind, he began to laugh heartily. Josie felt a chill down her spine as if she was in the presence of a demon!
“Arnold… please, let me go…” Josie trembled uncontrollably. “I can help you. I can save your father. Trust me. Just like you said, Dexter still has feelings for me, so he will let your father go!”
His movements didn’t cease. His large hand moved around her back, resting on the clasp of her bra. A snap rang out, triggering a tingle in Josie’s scalp.
“I’m the criminal, not Dexter,” he said. “Someone like him would never take a life. I believe Edward will suffer a little at most, but he will keep his life. So, I’m actually not worried that he’s in Dexter’s hands.”
As soon as these words were spoken, Josie realized what he was thinking, and she felt a wave of utter despair. They’re all madmen, all of them!
Just as Arnold was about to remove her bra, his phone, which he had placed to the side, suddenly started to vibrate violently, causing him to hesitate and pause in his actions.
Josie reacted as if it was her last hope of being saved. She decisively grabbed the phone without even checking who it was and answered the call immediately.
“Arnold, did you take Josie?”
It’s Heather… No, it’s Rachel’s voice!
Compared to her gentle demeanor in person, her voice over the phone sounded harsher. Arnold narrowed his eyes, staring at Josie, who clenched her teeth in defiance. After a moment, he responded, “Mmm-hmm.”
“Why did you take her?” Rachel was very alert.
“What’s the matter? Afraid you can’t play the role of the daughter of the Olsen family? Why the anxious questioning?”
As she listened to their conversation, Josie’s fingertips turned white from gripping the phone too tightly. It was hard to imagine that these two people, who seemingly had no interaction in public, could have such a close relationship behind the scenes.
