As she spoke, she grabbed the wine from his hand and quickly drank it. However, even after finishing his drink, Arnold’s expression remained unchanged. Mallory’s torment continued as well. Overwhelmed with emotion, Josie pleaded, “What do you want from me? I’ll do anything, just spare Mallory!”
As she spoke, she crawled in front of the woman beside her, gritting her teeth as she tried to suppress her dignity. The woman was startled, not expecting Josie to actually do it.
Arnold’s expression darkened. He abruptly grabbed Josie by the waist and demanded, “Where is my father?”
Josie yelled, “I don’t know! I really don’t know! Dexter used me! He didn’t tell me!”
Arnold pressed his finger hard against her lips. He wished he could kill this woman right then and there. Josie struggled to get up after being thrown aside. “Make them stop, Arnold! Make them stop!”
The man remained unmoved as he watched the woman lying before him.
Seeing the situation, the woman beside him realized she had few options left. Taking the initiative, she said, “I’ll take her downstairs and handle it, Mr. Carter. You shouldn’t have to witness such a gruesome scene.”
Arnold narrowed his eyes and suddenly kicked the table, causing the wine bottles to fall and shatter on the floor.
“Leave!”
The woman was so frightened that she froze in place. After a while, she finally caught her breath and hurriedly scurried away.
Scar also understood and stopped forcing drinks down Mallory’s throat. He then dragged her out of the room, leaving only two people inside.
“How much do you know now?”
The question confused Josie, making her thoughts jumbled. Mallory’s screams echoed in her ears, preventing her from thinking clearly.
“What are you asking?”
Arnold lifted a cup of wine, holding it above her head, and slowly poured it down.
“Seeing Mallory come back for her things means you’ve already seen them. How much do you know, Josie?”
Josie endured the humiliation as the red wine trickled down her head. Besides feeling wronged, there was also extreme anger in her voice as she asked, “Are you asking about Rachel?”
Arnold met her gaze directly, without any evasion.
“I never expected that Heather was previously known as Rachel,” she said with a soft chuckle. After laughing for a moment, she slumped weakly onto the floor and said, “But she didn’t look like this before, Arnold. You’re quite the strategist.”
Arnold’s gaze lingered, no longer attempting to hide it. “Your appearance has been very helpful to me.”
Josie took a deep breath. “I underestimated your hatred for Dexter. Your chess game began long before I came into the picture.”
In reality, Josie hadn’t finished reading the document, but she had already guessed its contents.
“You started grooming a woman many years ago. This person had to be orphaned, independent, and kind-hearted since childhood. You secretly supported her through high school and college. If nothing unexpected happened, she would naturally come into contact with Dexter. Under your plan, she would return to the Olsen family as Liana Olsen.”
Josie found herself in awe of Arnold’s long- term strategy, admiring his strategic brilliance and remarkable patience.
“Unfortunately, the unexpected happened. Dexter got married in secret, and I became the bride. That’s when you started getting close to me and tried to learn everything about me in your own way. It was also because of me that Rachel couldn’t contact Dexter, making her plan to return to the Olsen family incredibly difficult.”
Josie sneered. “But you should thank me. Without me, you wouldn’t know exactly what matches Liana’s criteria, nor would you have the DNA that could help you go undetected.”
