Caught off guard by the question, Angel paused for a moment, then shook her head. “No.”
With a smile, Josie said, “It’s no good for you to miss someone else while already having a boyfriend.” Angel’s face instantly turned half-red. “That’s not what I meant. I was just… curious.”
Ryan indeed appeared to be a calm and composed man, quite different from Jade’s style. Considering their similar ages, it was understandable why Angel would be attracted to him.
“Regardless of the circumstances, we must handle relationships carefully so as not to hurt others’ feelings.” After Josie finished signing, she put the pen away and smiled.
Angel revealed an embarrassed expression, struggling before she finally said, “Will you believe me if I said I didn’t initiate it?”
Josie furrowed her brows.
“Ryan was the one who started it.”
Josie immediately stood up, ready to open the door and confront the person outside. However, Angel grabbed Josie’s hand and shook her head, “Don’t put me in a difficult position.”
It took Josie a while to calm down. “Why didn’t you refuse?”
“He threatened me, but… I actually found myself enjoying it,” Angie confessed, her voice laden with guilt.
Josie understood.
She chuckled self-deprecatingly. “Isn’t that just human nature?”
Angel asked, “What about you? Have you ever wavered?” That question stumped Josie, leaving her somewhat dazed. “Have you ever heard a song?”
“Hmm?”
“It went something like ‘Grant her the complete experience that you can’t give me.”
Josie hesitated before, but one man never left her heart. Somberly, she muttered, “Promise me you’ll return and make it clear to Jade that you’re determined to break up.”
Angel agreed. After Angel left, Josie couldn’t help but call Morgan. The call was quickly answered on the other end. With a hoarse voice, he asked, “What’s up?”
That time, it was Josie who was puzzled. “Were you sleeping?”
Morgan didn’t respond directly. He merely rustled softly for a moment. “What do you want to tell me?”
“Manage your own staff. Don’t mess with my people.” With that, Josie hung up the phone, leaving Morgan completely baffled on the other end.
As night fell, Josie sat by the window, staring blankly at the black computer. After a long while, she finally turned on her computer and put her headphones back on.
Her palms were stained with sweat, fearing she might hear inappropriate sounds between a man and a woman. However, what she heard was Mark’s voice.
“Dexter, always leave room for retreat when you do things. Wavery can’t always be dominated by you alone.” Those words were spoken by Mark in a serious tone, indicating anger.
Upon hearing that, Dexter replied casually, “Both are your sons-in-law. How can you show favoritism? Are you trying to back Arnold?”
Mark said, “Your grandfather has passed away, and I’m teaching you how to handle matters. In the future, Russell Group and even the entire Olsen family will be entrusted to you. How can I be at ease if you’re so extreme?”
Dexter seemed to take a sip of coffee. “Mr. Olsen, I’m delighted to hear you say that. However, I suspect some people may take issue with your words.”
Mark was filled with anger toward Dexter, yet there was nothing he could do.
“The wedding is set on the fifteenth. It’s a big day, so you should take good care of your health, Mr. Olsen,” Dexter said before getting up and leaving. What Josie heard next was the sound of footsteps.
She remained silent in the darkness. It seems that the marriage was truly settled. Meanwhile, Heather had been waiting for a long time, so when she spotted Dexter, she clung to his arm. “What did father say to you?”
