Josie, as the lead designer, was engrossed in finalizing the last blueprint, but the tasks of the other staff members had already been completed.
The mansion boasted a splendid view, with a vast expanse of land. A group of people gathered on the lawn, engaged in a lively game of frisbee.
Despite his leg injury, Justin insisted on joining in the fun. This enthusiasm was contagious, and even Grape was swept up in it as she cheered them on at the side.
Through the floor-to-ceiling window, Josie took in everything before her eyes.
Dexter sat to one side, examining the final design. “Is this your original idea?”
Josie poured herself a cup of coffee. “It’s the result of the collective wisdom of everyone.”
Dexter flashed a slight smile, seemingly understanding the trick within. He put down the blueprint. “What a genius.”
This statement sounded rather cryptic. Josie looked over and saw two areas circled in red on the design blueprint.
“Can you save me a spot here?”
It was right in the middle of the corridor. Josie leaned in and said, “It’s situated at the heart of La Oriele’s control system. Arnold will pay extra attention to it. It probably won’t work.” She picked up the pen from the table and drew a circle on the side. “How about here?”
The two were close together. With a slight lift of his eyes, Dexter could take in her profile completely. Josie probably realized this too, and she straightened up.
He said, “In the wake of the rectification, Rivodia will pay special attention to La Oriele. The chances of making a significant impact are slim. Let’s settle on this”
It’s settled, then.
Josie let out a sigh. Just as she was about to bring the coffee to her lips, a large hand suddenly reached over, snatching the coffee away.
“You…”
“Dinner will be ready soon. Coffee ruins your appetite. Drink some water.” Dexter handed Josie a cup of water.
Outside, sunlight was pouring down, accompanied by a flurry of activities. Josie raised an eyebrow, but she did not take it.
The atmosphere was somewhat awkward when suddenly, from downstairs, the voice of Grape rang out, “Daddy! Mommy! Come out and play!”
The two of them looked down together, seeing Grape perched happily atop Jade’s head. It seemed someone had egged them on.
Just as Josie was about to step forward to respond, Dexter grabbed her wrist, pulling her back to the side of the desk. “Do you want them to see us sharing a room?”
“You can stay inside.”
Dexter wore a smile that wasn’t quite a smile. “Have you forgotten that this is my study?”
It was only then that Josie realized that and attempted to slip away from the side. However, she was stopped by Dexter, who stretched out his arm. He slightly lowered his head and rested his chin on her shoulder. His voice carried a hint of childishness as he said, “You’ve spent the whole morning with those male colleagues. I don’t want to let you go.”
Josie was amused. “Dexter, aren’t you being childish? You’re even jealous of my colleagues.”
Dexter openly admitted, “Yes, I am.”
“Silly. You have many beautiful women around you as subordinates, but I’ve never said anything about it.”
“Who? If you don’t like them, I’ll fire them immediately”
“You’re crazy.” Josie said, somewhat exasperated. She wasn’t jealous. At that moment, Grape was still calling out to her parents incessantly. “Your daughter is asking for you.”
Dexter rose to his feet, locking eyes with her. “So now you admit that she’s my daughter.”
Words eluded Josie.
She pushed him, but her arm was injured. Dexter was afraid of hurting her, so he didn’t dare to resist. As a result, he lost his balance and leaned forward, pressing Josie back to her original position. He bent down and kissed the corner of her lips.
Josie was completely stiffened.
Dexter furrowed his brows, seemingly taken aback. He had intended to pull away, but having tasted the sweetness, he found himself unwilling to let go. Tightening his hold, he cradled the back of her neck and bestowed upon her a tender kiss.
