As soon as things ended on his end, he rushed toward Josie. Hence, he had followed her all night. However, he didn’t expect Josie to be drunk and act crazy as she clung to Arnold.
She deliberately provoked him, causing Dexter’s anger to intensify. “Vixen, I should never have let you go.”
“Could it be that you’re reluctant to let me sacrifice my charm, Mr. Russell?” She asked. A bold spark was dancing in her eyes.
At this point, Dexter let out a cold laugh. Suddenly, he leaned down and pressed a kiss to a patch of skin on her neck. Josie’s mind exploded, a tingling numbness instantly spreading throughout her body. But in the next second, he parted his lips and bit down.
Josie struggled in pain. “It hurts! Why did you bite me?”
Dexter brushed aside her hair. “You carry the scent of Arnold, which I don’t like.”
There was blood on his lips, making his complexion strikingly vivid. “Since he has touched you, I should bite you. It’s only fair.”
The pain was searing, and Josie gasped for breath. “Are you a dog?”
What kind of deal is this? She retorted sarcastically, “You almost got married twice, and I only once. How is this fair?”
“Didn’t it fall through?” He half-lay on her, blocking the sunlight that was spilling onto her. “On the day of the wedding, you messed it up, Jo.”
Josie laughed. “Even if it wasn’t a wedding, have a thousand ways to make you feel embarrassed.”
“I know,” he responded swiftly, a hint of pride evident in his laughter. “My acquaintance with you is not superficial, Jo. I know.”
This person is somewhat perverse. With her hands still restrained, Josie felt uncomfortable, as if she was under his control.
“So don’t provoke me. If you drive me mad, I’ll make sure you’re embarrassed.” She struggled and demanded, “Let go!”
Not only did Dexter not let go, but he also adjusted her collar with one hand. “Guess where Summer went when we followed her yesterday.”
Josie was tense. “Where did she go?”
“An upscale mansion community in the heart of Rivodia.”
“Which building did she enter?”
Dexter stretched out his finger and answered, “Samson Maxwell.”
Josie subtly rose, her subconscious mind searching for her phone. As soon as Dexter released her, she began to look up information. Upon seeing the resume on the screen, she froze in place.
“No wonder Arnold could go after Charles. His superior is not to be underestimated.” Josie was in disbelief. “If he had such power, why did he need to go through such so much trouble?”
Dexter rolled down the car window. The driver
immediately understood, got in the car, and started the engine.
“Perhaps the person Samson is supporting isn’t Arnold.”
“What do you mean?”
The vehicle had just passed by the under- renovation La Oriele. Josie looked in that direction and immediately understood something. “Are you talking about Mr. Dalton?”
“Mr. Dalton is a local, and he doesn’t personally involve himself in many matters. This makes him safer and more secure than outlaws like Arnold.”
Dexter’s expression was indifferent. When he investigated Samson Maxwell, he was also taken aback, but he had since calmed down.
“That Summer…” Josie understood the situation roughly. “She was used as a sacrificial gift.”
Upon hearing her description, Dexter lowered his head and chuckled softly. Upon returning to the mansion, Morgan was still sitting in the courtyard, sipping coffee as if he had already entered retirement.
Josie stepped out of the car, and Grape came scampering out from inside the house, calling out, “Mommy!”
While calling out for Josie, her legs, however, carried her toward Dexter. She ran into his arms and called out, “Hi, Daddy.”
Josie’s face stiffened, and she entered the mansion in annoyance. “Ingrate.”
Dexter was quite pleased, a smile playing on his lips. Larry had been waiting for him for a long time. Upon seeing him, Larry was taken aback. “Mr. Russell, are you injured? Why is there blood on your mouth?”
That belonged to Josie, whose bloodstains had long since dried, turning a deep crimson.
Dexter’s face darkened. “Do I need to explain to you in detail where this blood came from?”
