Along the way out, Jewel and Alex remained silent. She only spoke up until they were outside the police station. “You leave on your own. I’ll take a cab myself.”

Alex let out a sigh in silence. He had known for a long time that she had forgotten everything from eight years ago, but he still held hopeful anticipation that she would remember. He hoped that she would clearly tell him that her mother wasn’t Winnie Parker, that her mother wasn’t the third party who destroyed his family, and that her mother wasn’t the mistress who took away his father from a young age. “Is my mother’s name related to your ignoring me during this period?” Jewel wasn’t a fool.
