Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 908

Ye Moxuan was lost in his thoughts as he stood still while watching her.

Han Muzi noticed the disdain reflected in his deep, dark eyes and she lost her confidence. Did I go overboard with my joke? Is that why he’s angry?

Considering that possibility, Han Muzi reached out to tug his sleeve and she whispered, “What is up with you?”

Ye Moxuan snapped back to his senses and realized that she was looking at him helplessly. His thoughts vanished instantly when he saw her vulnerable expression.

Forget it. What is the use of thinking about such things? Everything would be fine as long as she stays by my side. The way she looks at me and the way she treats me is definitely sincere. Why does it matter if she was in love or has liked someone else in the past? Only thing is… I am almost losing my mind out of jealousy toward that person. Her unborn child…

He suddenly felt something against his cheek. Ye Moxuan saw Han Muzi looking at him worriedly. “What happened to you? You seem so distracted. Did I say something wrong earlier?”

Ye Moxuan regained his composure and answered her, “Stop imagining things.”

Am I imagining things? Han Muzi bit her lower lip. “It’s just that I always have this feeling that you are in a foul mood recently. Did I do something wrong?”

I might have been too excited since I was rather pleased with myself. If I knew that he didn’t like it, I wouldn’t have behaved like that.

Just when she was deep in thought, Ye Moxuan raised his hand suddenly to touch the tip of her nose lightly.

Han Muzi gazed into his eyes when she snapped back to her senses and she saw his thin lips parting. “Are you imagining things? I am not in a good mood because you have been admitted to the hospital. How can I possibly be happy with this going on?”

It makes sense when he puts it that way. He wouldn’t be in a good mood since I’ve been admitted to the hospital after the kidnapping. Not to mention, I almost fell down the stairs. In that case, was I overthinking?

“Pack your things; let’s go home.” Ye Moxuan held her hand and they both walked back to her hospital room.

The two of them started to pack her things. On the other side, upon learning that Han Muzi was discharged from the hospital, Song An went to her apartment beforehand to whip up a nutritious meal for her.

Only after Han Muzi got into the car did she remember that it was Chinese New Year’s Eve tonight.

To be honest, the entire family should be reunited to celebrate Chinese New Year. However, Ye Moxuan has yet to recover his memories and I can’t have Little Bean over to celebrate the New Year. Nevertheless, I have already framed a printed photograph of Little Bean and I and kept it in my locked drawer. Will that count as celebrating Chinese New Year together if I take the framed photograph with me? Well, at least it’s something.

Han Muzi blurted out, “Can I drop by my previous rented house?”

Her previous rented unit had been empty ever since Ye Moxuan moved her to her current accommodation, but she never tendered her termination notice because there were some things that were still in the apartment.

Ye Moxuan nodded. “Sure.” Then, he changed the direction of the car.

After fifteen minutes, the car stopped downstairs of the apartment building. Han Muzi exited the car, but she stopped Ye Moxuan when he wanted to follow her upstairs.

“I’m just dropping by to collect some things, so you just have to wait for me in the car for a bit. I will be done in a few minutes.”

She wanted to take the framed photograph of Little Bean and it wouldn’t be good if he saw it when he came up with her.

Ye Moxuan glared at her. “Do you not need me to accompany you?”

Han Muzi shook her head. “No, I will be quick. Besides, I won’t be carrying anything heavy. You don’t have to accompany me.”

Seeing as she did not need his help at all, Ye Moxuan did not insist. He pursed his thin lips together and nodded, but he reminded her, “Call out for me at the corridor if you need help.”

“Sure.” With that, Han Muzi turned around to head upstairs and she took her key out to open the door. Coincidentally, the woman next door came out with a bag of garbage and she looked slightly surprised. “It’s you! Why are you back?”

Han Muzi was stunned when she saw the woman before recalling the unkind words that the latter previously mentioned. Hence, she ignored her neighbor and merely nodded in acknowledgement while continuing to unlock the door.

The neighbor was jealous and upset when Han Muzi refused to respond to her. Thus, she commented with a contemptuous snort, “Has that rich man abandoned you? Is that why you have returned? Well, like I’ve said, you never return the rented unit after moving out, so that must mean that you have a Plan B in the event that you are dumped by a man. You’re keeping this place in the event that you need a place to live. Sigh, tell me, how much money have you siphoned off him? He seemed to be wealthy, judging from his car.”

Click! Han Muzi opened the door and pushed it slightly ajar. Once that was done, she turned to face the neighbor stoically. Her eyes were void of emotions and warmth, as if she stared at a dead person.

The neighbor was shocked by her gaze and she pouted sheepishly. “A-Am I wrong? You found a wealthy man in such a short span of time. Did you not use indecent means to achieve that?”

Han Muzi smirked at her. “What the hell does that have to do with you?”

The neighbor was shocked by her answer and she stammered, “W-What is with your tone? What is it? You can’t think I’m being impolite now, can you?”

Han Muzi turned around after yanking her key out and she walked deliberately toward the neighbor. “In that case, remember to record yourself when you speak the next time, so that you can listen to yourself on playback when you are at home and reflect on what you have said.”

Despite being at least an inch taller than Han Muzi, for some reason, the neighbor felt that her aura was diminished when she faced Han Muzi. “I-I’m not impolite. I am just telling the truth.”

“What is the truth? Have you witnessed anything in person? I have never lodged a complaint against you for being noisy in the middle of the night, yet you have made scathing remarks behind my back. If you’re jealous, why don’t you seduce a man? I’d like to see if you are able to seduce one in such a short time, just so that he’d rescue you from this slum.”

The last part of her remark hit a raw point in the neighbor’s nerve because her eyes bulged in anger all of a sudden. “W-What did you say? Are you not embarrassed of yourself? Are you taking pride in what you have done?”

“Why should I feel embarrassed? After all, someone has lost her mind out of jealousy. Otherwise, she would not be so unpleasant and impolite each time she bumps into me.” There was no anger in Han Muzi’s tone when she said those words. In fact, her gaze was ice-cold and her tone was calm. However, her comments hit a sore spot with the neighbor because the woman retreated a couple of steps and resentfully glared at Han Muzi.

Han Muzi smirked at her. “Have you admitted defeat? You have caused so much trouble for me and I expected much more from you. Are you speechless after my comments? In that case, don’t you provoke me in the future. Otherwise, I will ensure that you would not be able to continue staying in this slum.”

In reality, the place was never a slum at all. However, the neighbor truly disliked the place. She had always dreamt of a bigger house, so she was jealous when she saw Han Muzi leaving with Ye Moxuan. In addition, she thought that her boyfriend was rather useless and deep down, she even looked down on herself. I should have known better and did exactly as Han Muzi did. I should have found a handsome, young, rich and powerful man for myself. Why am I wasting my youth by living with a poor man?

The more the neighbor thought about it, the more she felt sorry for herself. She vented her frustrations by picking a fight with her boyfriend. He became annoyed with her after such arguments and left for a round of drinks. She needed to vent and when she saw Han Muzi returning home, she stirred up trouble for Han Muzi.
