Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 572

Confluence of minds. Does he take me for a three-year-old? Did he just make up a reason on the spot to lie to me?

No matter what she said, Ye Moxuan maintained a cool façade. Han Muzi walked to the front of her door and looked around for quite a long time, but she still couldn’t locate the camera.

After spending some time searching for it, Han Muzi suddenly realized that she looked ridiculous by searching high and low for the camera. He must have been well-prepared since he said that we share the confluence of minds while denying that he installed a surveillance camera in front of the entrance of my house.

It might be a mini camera, and I most probably wouldn’t find it by looking for it with my naked eyes.

Upon considering the possibility, Han Muzi glanced at Ye Moxuan, who was leaning at the side. “It’s a mini camera, isn’t it?”

Ye Moxuan stared at her, and his lips were pressed into a thin line, but he did not answer her.

Han Muzi stared at him, and the two of them remained in that position for ages. In the end, Han Muzi broke the silence suddenly. “Forget it. I won’t get a thing out of you anyway. I won’t ask, since you won’t tell.”

With that, Han Muzi reached out to hit the elevator’s descend button. After waiting for a long time, the doors of the elevator finally opened slowly, and Han Muzi entered the elevator straight away.

After entering, she did not look up at Ye Moxuan’s expression; instead, she pressed the ‘Close’ button directly.

The doors of the elevator were gradually closing, but Ye Moxuan, who was leaning against the wall, moved suddenly, and then his large and burly body barged in all of a sudden.

It so happened that the elevator doors closed right after he dashed in.

Han Muzi was in shock, and she stared at him in surprise.

“What are you planning to do this time?”

“It’s too dangerous outside right now,” answered Ye Moxuan in a gravelly and detached voice. “You shouldn’t go out alone.”

He was frowning, as if he was especially worried for her. However, Han Muzi had a feeling that he was just trying to stay by her side, and so she uttered in amusement, “Aren’t you overthinking? You are always tagging along with me. No danger could possibly befall me since you’re around.”

Ye Moxuan was rendered speechless by her response.

He thought that she made sense, and he was surprised that he did not have a comeback to that. His lips parted in silence, but soon, he leaned toward Han Muzi while chuckling quietly. “That’s great.”

Han Muzi looked at him questioningly.

Does it mean he’d be following me wherever I go from now on?

After a while, Ye Moxuan asked her, “Where are you going?”

“That’s none of your business.”

Han Muzi leaned against the elevator wall while having her hands folded in front of her chest, and she looked rather pale standing there. She had just recovered from a high fever, and so she thought of heading out after feeling better. However, after what she experienced earlier, she felt slightly lightheaded again, and she wasn’t too steady on her feet. Hence, she had no choice but to lean against the elevator wall for support.

I must never reveal my exhaustion or any sign of weakness in front of Ye Moxuan. Otherwise, he’d follow me wherever I go.

Upon considering that, she inhaled deeply before adding, “I need to attend to some matters. You need to stop following me.”

Ye Moxuan glanced at her from the corner of his eyes, and he frowned reflexively when he saw her leaning heavily against the elevator wall behind her.

Such a foolish woman. Why is she trying to be so stubborn in front of me? But come to think of it, she has always been stubborn.

Ye Moxuan smiled when he thought of that. “I’ll drive you.”

Han Muzi rejected him coldly upon hearing that. “No need. I have a car. I don’t need you to drive me at all.”

Ye Moxuan did not reply to that, and the elevator became deafeningly quiet.

After a while, the elevator came to a stop.

Han Muzi straightened her back after the elevator doors opened, and she then marched out with difficulty.

After taking several steps forward, she realized how dizzy she was, and she figured it was most probably due to the side effects of her high fever.

After her shower last night, she spaced out at the balcony for a very long time in the chilly night wind before going to bed. She was distracted last night after all, and so she even forgot to dry her hair.

She didn’t expect to develop such a high fever upon waking up.

I am not sure what happened after, but I do recall some vague memory fragments. Yan came over to wake me up, and she even opened the door for Ye Moxuan. After that, he carried me up the stairs and did everything he could to lower my body temperature.

Naturally, I know how things progressed once I woke up.

I am also well aware that I can’t possibly drive. If Ye Moxuan weren’t here, I might have headed back straight away.

I do treasure my life after all.

However, I don’t want to reveal my weaker side to Ye Moxuan since he is here.

I need Ye Moxuan to leave first even if I were to return home.

Once she made up her mind, Han Muzi stopped dead in her tracks. Then, she turned around to face Ye Moxuan, who was following her.

“You should go back.” Her tone was softer than usual. Ye Moxuan got closer before stopping in front of her.

“Are you so unhappy to see me? You know it’s dangerous, so why are you reluctant for me to go with you?”

Han Muzi explained, “President Ye, you have countless things to attend to each day; besides, you have such a large company. You can’t very well keep me company for 24/7, can you? Wouldn’t I be depicted as the siren who caused your inevitable downfall if this were to happen during ancient times?”

Ye Moxuan leaned forward, and his dark eyes pulled her in, whereas his voice sounded husky.

“There is no doubt that you definitely have the ability to bring down large empires.”

I’m not sure about others, but with your looks, even when you are dressed up casually, I am undeniably attracted to you.

Han Muzi’s heart skipped a beat when she felt their breaths mingle. She then took a step backward reflexively to put a safe distance between Ye Moxuan and herself.

She felt her ears heat up, and so she looked away. “I need to attend to some matters at the company. I’m sure you have things to attend to at your company too. Hence… let’s go our separate ways, alright?”

He did not answer her. Instead, he stood still while staring at her unblinkingly.

After pondering, she assumed that he agreed with her. Therefore, she walked toward her car with her car key. Just when she opened the car door, a figure dashed toward her and snatched her car key away from her grasp.

Before Han Muzi could respond, Ye Moxuan had already taken his seat behind the wheel.

She was dumbfounded as she asked incredulously, “What are you doing?”

“You were running a high fever just a moment ago and can’t even walk steadily, yet you still want to drive? Do you have a death wish?”

“Isn’t that my problem? Besides, I know very well whether I can drive,” she retorted.

Ye Moxuan looked up when he heard that. His eyes clouded over with a frosty glaze, and his lips parted.

“Do you want to get into a car crash?”

“What?”

“If you want to die, I’ll accompany you. You can drive, and I’ll be in the passenger seat.”

Han Muzi was rendered speechless by his response.

She stared at him with bulging eyes, and the color drained from her face because his perverse claims, which sounded borderline insane, shocked her.

“What nonsense are you spouting?”

Ye Moxuan cackled mirthlessly. “It looks like you are afraid of death after all. Get in the car.”

She stood rooted to the spot, unwilling to move. “Are you driving me to the company?” she asked after a pause.

“Do you think I’d watch you drive yourself there?” Ye Moxuan asked rhetorically.

After weighing her options, Han Muzi finally went around to the other side of the car and got into the co-driver’s seat.
