Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 508

That man doesn’t love me at all. Why should I jeopardize my future and harm others for his sake since he’s not even in love with me?

“Do you regret it?” A cold, hard voice rang behind her. Han Muzi turned around and saw Ye Moxuan standing right behind her.

She smiled faintly. “Regret about what?”

Ye Moxuan gazed at her with a calm expression. He spoke after a short pause, “My intention is not to let her off the hook.”

“I know that.” Han Muzi nodded. “However, her mother and your aunt hope that you’d forgive her this time.”

“What about you?” Ye Moxuan changed the topic suddenly while staring at her unblinkingly. “What do you hope for? Do you hope that I’d let her off the hook too?”

Han Muzi was rendered speechless by his sudden question. Why does this person always direct the question back to me? She regarded him in silence for a while before asking him, “I thought you knew my answer long ago.”

Ye Moxuan couldn’t help but smile at her response. Then, he reached out and brushed her hair away from her cheek with his fingertips. “What can I do? I know that I shouldn’t let her go. However, my dear wife is very kind, and so I have no choice but to let her off the hook this time.”

Han Muzi wasn’t sure what to say, and so she took a step back to be out of Ye Moxuan’s reach.

Ye Moxuan had a sudden sense of loss when her hair slipped through his fingers. He stood rooted to the spot with his arm frozen mid-air, and he left it hanging for several seconds without moving.

After pondering for a while, Han Muzi made her way to his back before asking him, “How are your injuries? Are you able to withstand the pain especially since we have been out for quite some time?”

Ye Moxuan finally lowered his hand slowly upon hearing that. He didn’t answer Han Muzi right away; instead, he turned around while gazing scorchingly at her. “Are you worried about me?”

Han Muzi did not answer him; instead, she shut her eyes and inhaled deeply before nodding. “I suppose so. You are a patient, after all.”

Ye Moxuan looked at her with resentment. “In that case, can I ask you for a favor?”

“What is it?”

“My back hurts now.”

Han Muzi looked at him questioningly.

“Let me lean against you,” answered Ye Moxuan.

With that, a tall and well-built figure leaned against her shamelessly. He rested his head against Han Muzi’s shoulder. Despite not exerting much strength, Han Muzi’s slender figure staggered a couple steps under his weight before she was able to steady herself.

“Hey!” Han Muzi glanced at the man who was leaning against her shoulder. She was rather annoyed, but she mostly felt helpless. He truly is different after five years. He is now pretty thick-skinned, and he’s shameless as well.

As if something struck her suddenly, Han Muzi warned him, “We are at a huge crossroad. If a reporter gets a picture of this…”

“So what? You are my woman. Everyone on the internet knows anyway. You just have to admit it if someone took a picture of us.”

Han Muzi was rendered speechless by his response. Forget it. I shall give him a break since he’s a patient.

After about ten minutes, Mrs. Lin appeared in front of Han Muzi again and gazed at her in embarrassment. “I’m truly sorry, Miss Han. In the beginning, I truly thought that after suffering in jail, my child would repent. Who would have thought she’d say those horrible things to you? It is my fault as a mother, and that is why I’m here to apologize to you in person. I’ve reprimanded her just now, and after you explained everything, Miss Han, Qingqing was rather embarrassed after reflecting upon the entire incident. That is why she’s hoping to apologize to you. She hopes that you’d give her another chance, Miss Han.”

Han Muzi looked at her calmly while maintaining a blank expression. However, Song An, who was standing right beside them, reminded her, “The fact that she is willing to wait right here shows that she is soft-hearted. Let’s go in now and see Lin Qingqing’s attitude this time.”

Han Muzi’s lips parted. She finally nodded and entered the visitor’s room again.

Lin Qingqing was significantly calmer than before during this meeting. Her eyes were slightly unfocused; the hatred from earlier was gone, but she still looked reluctant.

When the group entered, she pushed her hair away while speaking to Han Muzi in a quiet voice, “Can I have a word with you in private?”

Han Muzi was astounded, but she nodded in the end. “Sure.”

“No.” Ye Moxuan rejected her wishes straight away. He then wrapped his arm around Han Muzi’s waist. “You can’t be alone with her.” That woman is capable of splashing sulfuric acid. What if she tries to harm Han Muzi again when I’m not around?

A flash of pain gleamed in Lin Qingqing’s eyes. “Do you not trust me at all? I’m already repenting now. I just want to have a word with her in private. Besides… I’ve been cooped up here for such a long time. How could I possibly have any weapons on me? How could I possibly harm her?”

There are security guards guarding the area. I suppose she wouldn’t be able to do anything out of the ordinary. Besides, her gaze is different from before now. Han Muzi weighed her options before turning around to speak to Ye Moxuan, “You guys should head out first. I’ll speak with her in private.”

“Muzi!” Ye Moxuan frowned unhappily. “Do you have a death wish?”

“No, I don’t.” Han Muzi pursed her ruby-red lips while staring at Ye Moxuan. “I treasure my life much more than you do yours.” It’s because I’m not alone. I’m now a mother; I have to keep myself safe in order to protect Little Bean. That is why I would never put my life at risk.

“Listen to her,” Song An chipped in.

Ye Moxuan pouted, thereupon he shifted focus to Lin Qingqing while staring at her sharply. His steely gaze sent shivers down Lin Qingqing’s spine, and she had no choice but to lower her eyes since she didn’t have the courage to meet his gaze.

I truly regret my actions. I shouldn’t have done that. Ye Moxuan wouldn’t have hated me so much right now if I hadn’t done that. He’s now treating me as if I’m a dangerous person. Lin Qingqing was overwhelmed by regret when she thought of it.

“Holler at me if you need me. I’ll be right at the door.” Finally, Ye Moxuan went along with Han Muzi’s wishes. However, he was still worried about her, and so he stood at the door, unwilling to go any farther away.

Lin Qingqing couldn’t care less if he were skulking at the entrance. She was satisfied as long as they weren’t in the same room.

“What do you want to say? You can say it now.”

Lin Qingqing laughed bitterly while looking up at Han Muzi. “Your life is indeed blissful.”

“You sent everyone away just to tell me that?” Han Muzi sat down in front of her.

Lin Qingqing’s gaze had a hidden sense of bitterness. “Why is God so unfair? I thought I had finally met a good man, and that I would eventually change his mind since there was a chance. I thought he would be mine as long as I worked hard. However… you showed up. Initially, I thought you were trying to get closer to him by using me. In the end, I learned that you are his ex-wife.”

Han Muzi was stunned to silence at the term ‘ex-wife’, but she regained her composure swiftly.

Ye Moxuan and I might still be married, but… to outsiders, we’ve been divorced for five years. From an outsider’s perspective, I am already his former wife.

“Since you already left, why did you come back again?”
