Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 400

At the Han residence.

It was already late at night, but Han Qing managed to get a house call for Han Muzi. The doctor cleaned and treated the wounds on Han Muzi’s hands.

“Alright, Miss Han, you shouldn’t wet your wounds for the next few days. It’s best to take it easy and not use your hands for work. The wounds will recover after a few days, but you should consume mild foods in the meantime.”

“Thank you very much.” Han Qing then instructed Mr. Jin to send the doctor back home.

“Did you hear what the doctor said?”

Han Muzi was sitting on the couch, and she answered him helplessly, “I heard him. In that case, can I shower tonight? I can’t be not showering for the next few days, can I?”

Han Qing weighed his options before answering her promptly, “Ask Yan to come over and help you.”

Han Muzi hesitated before replying to him, “I don’t think that’s necessary. To be honest, I think I can manage. I just have to tie a plastic bag over my hands.”

Han Qing’s mood darkened while he stared unblinkingly at Han Muzi. Han Muzi felt awkward under such scrutiny, and so she tried laughing it off. “Alright, I won’t shower. I’m going upstairs to rest now; I’m tired.”

Mm-hmm.”

Han Muzi realized that Little Bean was already asleep by the time she entered her room.

She approached the bed while gazing at Little Bean’s asleep and serene face. His face… truly resembles that person.

For the past five years, Han Qing has been urging me to return home. However, I refused to do so because I didn’t want to bump into that person.

Initially, I thought that since North City is so large, chances are slight for me to bump into him even if I returned home. However, I was not expecting… to bump into him so soon upon arriving home.

We even interacted face-to-face…

The entire ordeal was not what I had expected at all.

Ye Moxuan.

Han Muzi’s expression fell when she thought of him, and then she stood up and walked slowly to the bathroom. She was at the entrance of the bathroom when someone knocked on her bedroom door.

Han Muzi was startled, but she turned around to open the door.

A servant was standing at the door while regarding her with respect.

“Miss Muzi, would you like to take a bath? I can help you with that.”

Han Muzi was stumped, but she nodded anyway. “In that case, please come in and draw a bath for me. Please be quieter because Little Bean is already asleep.”

After a moment of hesitation, the servant suggested softly, “Miss Muzi, why don’t you shower in the guest room? You can return to your bedroom when you are done. I can help you there too.”

“That works as well. I’ll grab my clothes.”

Han Muzi went into her room to grab a change of fresh clothes. Then, she followed the servant to the guest room.

The servant drew her a bath. Han Muzi managed to take a bath with her help, and she had a change of fresh clothes as well.

“What is the time now?”

“Miss Muzi, it’s almost midnight.”

Almost midnight? I wonder if Yan is back home yet. Han Muzi took her phone out once she returned to her bedroom, and she tried unlocking her phone clumsily. However, since it was secured with a fingerprint lock, and her fingers were bandaged with gauze, she simply couldn’t unlock her phone.

In the end, Han Muzi didn’t even unlock her phone. Instead, she went to the study to see Han Qing.

True enough, the lights in the study were still on.

“Qing.”

“Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be resting?” Han Qing scowled unhappily at her.

“Qing, we were supposed to work overtime in the company today, but I’m not in the company now. Isn’t it unsafe for Yan to return home alone? Can you…”

Han Qing immediately understood what she meant, and so he nodded to reassure her. “Sure, I’ll pick her up. You should rest.”

“Thank you, Qing.”

Han Muzi nodded in satisfaction before returning to her bedroom to sleep.

Yan, please don’t accuse me of not helping you. I am presenting this opportunity to you on a silver platter.

The next day, when Han Muzi woke up from her sleep, she saw Little Bean sprawled beside her while staring at her in concern.

Han Muzi was surprised, but she called for him in a gentle tone, “Little Bean?”

Little Bean’s eyes turned red with tears the moment he heard her voice. Then, he lowered his gaze to her bandaged hands. “Mommy, you’re injured.”

Han Muzi, upon hearing what he said, recalled with a start that her hands were still heavily bandaged, and she let out a helpless sigh.

“It’s just some minor injuries; it’s not a big deal.”

“Mommy, you are lying!” Little Bean snorted, and he pointed at her in exasperation. “If it were minor, you wouldn’t have such a thick bandage. Mommy… what happened? Tell me, please. I will avenge you!”

Han Muzi smiled faintly. “Nothing happened. I cut my fingers by accidentally slipping and falling against some broken glass. I’ll be fine in a couple of days.”

Little Bean threw himself at her and hugged her neck tightly while rubbing his cheeks against her fondly. “Mommy, can you take me along to work next time?”

“I can’t do that.” Han Muzi’s hands were wrapped with bandages, but she could still lift her arm up to caress Little Bean’s head gently. “I don’t have time to look after you while I’m working, Little Bean. You should take good care of yourself at home. Besides… now that we’ve returned from abroad, I think we will be settling here. Initially, I wanted to search for a school for you at Su City, but… since your uncle has started a company for us, I should consider buying a small house here instead. Once I find a good school for you, I’ll buy a house nearby.’

Little Bean protested loudly at the mention of attending school, “Mommy, I don’t want to go to school. I want to be together with you forever.”

Little Bean wrapped his arms tightly around Han Muzi’s neck.

Cough, cough. I would be strangled to death if you don’t loosen your arms soon,” Han Muzi scolded, and so Little Bean relaxed his grip.

“You can’t not go to school. If you became illiterate, do you expect me to look after you for the rest of your life?”

Hmph, I don’t need you to do that, mommy! I will be able to support myself; in fact, I will even support you!”

Han Muzi burst out laughing at his response. “Sure, in that case, you will have to support me once I am old, Little Bean. That is why you have to attend classes in school. I thought you wanted to serve the country as a policeman, don’t you?”

“That’s right.” Little Bean nodded obediently. “In that case, it’s best for me to listen to your advice, mommy.”

“Such a good boy.”

Knock-knock.

“Muzi?”

“That’s Aunt Yan. Let me get the door.” Little Bean jumped off the bed swiftly and opened the room door.

“Aunt Yan.”

“Ah, hello, Little Bean!” Yan snuck into the room stealthily before patting Little Bean’s head. Then, she approached Han Muzi.

Han Muzi sat up and leaned against the bedside.

“What are you doing here?”

“I’m here to check on your hands.” Yan got closer and sat on her bedside. When Little Bean, who was nearby, saw that, he gave them space obediently and entertained himself at the other side of the room.

“My hands are fine. The doctor treated me last night. I should recover in a few days.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t go to work for the next few days. You should recuperate at home.”

“No.” Han Muzi shook her head adamantly. “I have to go to work. I have to personally look through their newly-drawn designs.”

“Can’t I send those home to you?”

“No. By the way, I can’t unlock my phone, thanks to the bandages. Can you please bring my phone over here and check if anyone has phoned me? Perhaps check if our clients have any new requests.”

Yan brought her phone over from the table. She knew the passcode for Han Muzi’s phone, and so she entered the code to unlock the phone.

“Oh my, your WeChat is exploding with notifications! So many people added you on WeChat!”
