“Everyone in the hospital is worried about you, but it seems like you are doing good now. As long as you rest and recuperate within these two days, you should be able to fully recover.”
“Thank you,” Shen Qi thanked the person with a pale face. She asked after a short pause, “Can I ask how he is?”
The doctor was stunned for a while because he knew who she was referring to. He pondered and answered in a serious tone, “His condition is worse than yours because he sustained more serious injuries than you did. Although they are mostly external wounds, the wounded areas are significantly larger. Besides, he was caught in the rain later, and when he got here after, he wouldn’t let us treat his wounds. He insisted on looking after you in person, and that is why he’s having a high fever now.”
The color drained from Shen Qi’s face when she heard that. “In that case, he…”
“He is fine now too, so don’t you worry. He is physically fit, and he has a strong willpower, so I’m quite sure he will be awake soon.”

Shen Qi felt a surge of warmth when she heard that and smiled sweetly at Ye Zi’s mother. “Don’t worry about it, Mrs. Ye. Your porridge is delicious, and you are really kind and motherly to your daughter too. Thank you.”
As she said that, Shen Qi thought of her own mother. It feels as if ever since I was a young child, my mother has given all her love and care for my younger sister, Shen Yue. When I was still a child, I went through a phase where it affected me very much because I felt as if my mother didn’t love me and favored Shen Yue more. However, as I grew older, I figured that Shen Yue is my younger sister after all, and we are both our mother’s children after all. I believed that no mother on earth would not love her own children, but since Shen Yue is the younger one, it is completely normal for our mother to favor Shen Yue.
Shen Qi used these thoughts to numb her feelings. In the end, she treated Shen Yue well too because the idea was already deeply rooted in her mind. After she left, Ye Zi sighed helplessly and lamented, “I’m so sorry. My mom has always been like that, so she might be a little noisy.”
“It’s fine. Mrs. Ye is a very good-natured woman. You must have a happy family.”
Ye Zi recalled her past while nodding. “That’s true. My mom is not the calculative type, and she is always warm and kind to others. There are times when my dad feels helpless because she can be a little too friendly, and sometimes, people might find that awkward, but it just doesn’t seem that way to her.” Ye Zi burst out laughing when she said that.
Shen Qi felt a sense of envy when she saw Ye Zi’s genuine laughter. If I’m given the chance, I would want a happy and warm family too. I am not hoping for much, to be honest, but there are times when I think that since I’m married, Mom might show some concern for me when I am home. A hug would be enough to make me happy. Yet, nothing has ever happened. I was hoping for this much, but I couldn’t even get that.
“Quick, have some porridge. It won’t be as tasty once it gets cold,” Ye Zi urged her to prevent her from overthinking since she saw that Shen Qi was lost in her own thoughts.
Shen Qi snapped back to reality while nodding.
After their meal, Ye Zi kept Shen Qi company for a while, and soon, Ye Linhan woke up from his slumber. Shen Qi was feeling sleepy, and she almost fell asleep, but once she heard his voice, she woke with a start and turned her head toward Ye Linhan.
“Vice President Ye, you are finally awake.” Ye Zi approached him hurriedly to check on him. Then, she started pouring a cup of warm water while serving him food. It was obvious that she cared for him and took care of him meticulously.
However, Ye Linhan only had his eyes focused on Shen Qi.
