Seeing her face turn pale in an instant, Ye Linhan frowned slightly and lowered the volume of his voice. “Don’t you know about this?” Shen Qi shook her head and retreated subconsciously.
Ye Linhan’s half-stretched hand stopped mid-air. After a while, he pursed his lips and asked, “Is Moxuan the father?”
Before she could answer, Ye Linhan said again, “No, Moxuan is in a wheelchair. I’m afraid he can’t do this kind of thing. Then—” His sharp gaze fell on her face.
“It’s nobody’s!” Shen Qi retorted loudly before he could continue. Ye Linhan was confused when he heard that. “Qi?”
Shen Qi shrank into the corner and hugged her knees as she looked at Ye Linhan vigilantly. “This has nothing to do with you!”
Her eyes were wary as if she was going up against a thief, sending a chill down Ye Linhan’s spine. He frowned and looked at her. “Do you hate me that much?”
Hearing that, Shen Qi’s heart sank. Before she could react, Ye Linhan stepped forward and clasped her wrist forcefully. “Why? What have I ever done to hurt you? Why do you hate me to this extent? Ever since you’ve entered the Ye family, I have always treated you well, and I have even—”
Shen Qi wanted to pull her hand back, but she realized that Ye Linhan was quite strong despite his usual gentle demeanor. He held on to her wrist tightly, and no matter how hard she struggled, she couldn’t shake him off. In the end, she said angrily, “Even what? Ye Linhan, let go of my hand!”
“Even given you my heart.” Ye Linhan looked at her with grave eyes and a pained expression on his face. “But you always avoid me and show so much hatred for me. Qi, what did I do wrong?”

Ye Linhan held her hand tightly, showing no intentions of letting go.

Hearing his name coming out of her mouth, Ye Linhan loosened his grip a little. After a while, he smiled contentedly and let go of her. “If you are willing to call my name more often, I will not treat you like this. I don’t want to hear you refer to me as your brother-in-law ever again.”
Shen Qi became silent upon hearing that.
After a long silence, she got out of bed.
“I have been out for a long time, so I should go back.”
“You’ve already spent a night here. Do you still want to go back?”
Shen Qi raised her head in astonishment. ‘A night’?
“When I brought you back to my private house, you were having a fever. After some time, I had no other choice but to send you to the hospital. The doctor said that you had a cold, which resulted in a high fever. You were also unconscious, so I had to let you stay here for a night.”
At the thought of not going home for a night, Shen Qi’s face instantly turned pale. She didn’t know what Ye Moxuan would think of her. Thinking about this, she wanted to use her cell phone quickly, but after searching for a long time, she couldn’t find it.
“Are you looking for this?” Ye Linhan handed her cell phone up. Shen Qi quickly took it to call Ye Moxuan instinctively.
“If you are looking for Moxuan, I can tell you bluntly—last night, no one called you.”
Shen Qi’s movements stopped as she looked up at Ye Linhan in disbelief.
“Disappointed? Devastated? You haven’t returned all night, yet he didn’t even call you.”

She lowered her head and looked at the phone. Indeed, there were no missed calls.
Ye Linhan approached her and lowered his voice. “The marriage between the both of you is just a marriage of convenience, but you have fallen for him, right?”
“No!” Shen Qi raised her head suddenly and denied Ye Linhan’s assumption immediately.
She didn’t fall for him; Ye Moxuan didn’t even care about her. Wouldn’t it be a joke if she admitted that she had fallen for him?
“You denied it so quickly and so intensely. Who would even believe you?” Ye Linhan had a faint, bitter smile. “You are in love with Moxuan.”
He said it so firmly that Shen Qi did not even have a chance to deny it.
“But have you ever thought that it’s impossible for you guys to be together?” Ye Linhan directly grasped her shoulders this time, staring into her eyes solemnly. “It’s impossible for you to be with him!”
“Let go of me!” Shen Qi said in hushed tones.
However, Ye Linhan did not let her go. Hence, Shen Qi shouted at him loudly, “I told you to let me go!”
Ye Linhan gently let go of her, and Shen Qi jumped out of bed with her cell phone.
Because of the effects of her high fever, she felt dizzy, and her body fell forward when she jumped out of bed.

Shen Qi fell directly onto the ground. Upon seeing this, Ye Linhan’s expression immediately changed, and he rushed over to help her up. “Qi, are you okay?”
“Let me go.” Shen Qi pushed away his hand forcefully. “I don’t need you to care about my matters. You are just my brother-in-law. Even if Ye Moxuan doesn’t like me, this has nothing to do with you!”
With that, Shen Qi pushed Ye Linhan away more desperately.
Even though Ye Linhan was a tall, strong man, she managed to push him back until his back hit the cold wall. Then, he looked at Shen Qi with a pained expression. “But I don’t want to be your brother-in-law at all.”
Shen Qi didn’t want to talk to him anymore; instead, she turned around and walked out.m of the ward. Although she was quite unsteady on her feet, she still pushed on and walked away slowly.
Ye Linhan stared at her leaving figure for a long time. In the end, he still couldn’t help but chase after her as he heaved a sigh.
“I’ll take you back then.”
“No.” Shen Qi shook his hand away. “It has nothing to do with you.”
“If you hate me for saying these things, I won’t say them anymore.” After Ye Linhan finished speaking, he directly raised his arms and picked her off her feet, ignoring her struggles. Then, he calmly spoke, “Your body is too weak right now—you should have been hospitalized, but if you are unwilling to do that, I will send you back now. I will never force you to do anything you don’t want to do!”
His last sentence calmed Shen Qi who raised her head to look at Ye Linhan’s face that was close to hers. She then suddenly stopped uttering another word.
“Just stay quiet.” He sighed helplessly and left the hospital with Shen Qi in his arms. He went to the parking lot and opened the door to put her in; his actions were cautious and careful during the whole process. When he bent over to fasten her seat belt, he stared into her eyes.
“Qi, just remember that I, Ye Linhan, will never force you to do anything unless you want to. No matter what, you can always ask for my help if you ever need me.”
