As soon as Yuchi Yishu returned to Seabay Villa, he received a call from Zhong Chufeng.
“Yishu, how’s Yuanyuan, is her coming-of-age ceremony over?”
His voice was extremely anxious and his breath was unstable.
Yuchi Yishu glanced at the time on his watch and pursed his lips. “The coming-of-age ceremony was held the day before. At this moment of time, do you think it’s over?”
Zhong Chufeng sighed disappointedly. “It’s a once in a lifetime event, I didn’t know I would miss the chance to see her put on her gown.”
Yuchi Yishu could sense the disappointment in Zhong Chufeng’s tone, but he didn’t know how to comfort him. After thinking for a long time, he said, “You didn’t have a choice.”
The night before the ceremony, Zhong Chufeng’s mother had acute appendicitis, and his family had to hurriedly accompany her for an operation. Zhong Chufeng was the only child, so he had no choice but to be there at the hospital.
Besides, his father spent most all year round working overseas and could not make it back that day, so Zhong Chufeng had to deal with many things alone.
It just so happened to be on the day of Tang Yuanyuan’s ceremony, and Zhong Chufeng was extremely distressed. However, at times like this he clearly could not leave his mother alone just to attend Tang Yuanyuan’s coming-of-age ceremony, so he could only ask Yuchi Yishu to bring the gifts for him.
Thinking about this, Yuchi Yishu asked, “How’s your mom doing? I’m going to go back home to unpack some stuff and head over to visit her later.”
“Don’t.” Zhong Chufeng sighed. “You don’t have to come and pay a visit. My mom is fine, and the surgery went well. She just needs to stay here for a few days.”
After turning off his car engine, Yuchi Yishu walked toward the villa and said, “Send me your location, I will leave in about 10 minutes.”
“You really don’t have to.”
After thinking about it, Zhong Chufeng answered, “Fine, I’ll send you the exact location later. Give me a call when you’ve arrived. I’ll go down to meet you.”
“Sure.”
Yuchi Yishu dropped the call and walked upstairs.
He went back to his room and changed into a new set of clothes. While he was heading downstairs, he met his mother.
“You’re back?”
“Yes. I have something to do so I’m heading out now.”
“What’s the matter?”
“Chufeng’s mother was admitted into the hospital last night.”
Han Muzi had always known that Zhong Chufeng was Yuchi Yishu’s close friend, so when she knew that Zhong Chufeng’s mother had been admitted into the hospital, she was slightly worried. “What happened to her? No wonder Chufeng was missing during the ceremony. Turns out his mother was admitted into the hospital. Are you going to visit them now? ”
“Yes. I’m going to pay her a visit.”
“Then let me go along with you.”
Yuchi Yishu stopped her. “Mom, I plan to ask Yuanyuan whether she wants to come along.”
Hearing his words, Han Muzi’s action came to a pause. She understood what he meant.
“Sure thing. I’ll pay her a visit some other time. Have a safe drive.”
Yuchi Yishu had no intention to call Tang Yuanyuan in the first place. After all, she probably didn’t sleep well last night, so she should be resting at home by this moment.
However, when he thought of Zhong Chufeng’s current situation, Yuchi Yishu wanted to call and ask Tang Yuanyuan whether she intended to come along to pay them a visit.
Of course, he was just going to ask whether she was willing to go. He wouldn’t force her if she didn’t want to.
After Yuchi Yishu entered the car, he waited for a moment before sending a text to Tang Yuanyuan.
‘Did you rest well after reaching home?’
After waiting for a minute or so, Tang Yuanyuan sent him a reply.
‘No. I had a good rest last night, why would I continue resting?’
After reading that text, he received another one.
‘Yishu, is there anything wrong?’
Yuchi Yishu gave her a call.
“Yishu?” Yuanyuan’s voice rang on the other side of the phone with curiosity.
Yuchi Yishu drove away from Seabay villa, and his vision was set on the road in front of him. “Why didn’t you get more rest after going back?”
“Yishu, I’m not tired. You don’t have to worry about me. I had a good rest last night.”
“Then would you like to go somewhere with me?”
“Where is it?”
When he fetched her, he realized that she hadn’t changed into a new set of clothes before hopping onto the passenger seat next to him. After fastening her seatbelt, she turned her head toward him.
“Yishu, you haven’t told me where you are bringing me to.”
“We are going to the hospital.”
Hearing that, Tang Yuanyuan’s expression changed. “We are going to the hospital? Are you sick? Was it because your feet were soaked in the rainwater last night? I told you so…”
“No. It’s none of those.” Yuchi Yishu interrupted her. “Don’t worry, I’m fine. We are going to the hospital to meet Chufeng.”
Zhong Chufeng?
Hearing that name, Tang Yuanyuan regained her senses.
“We are going to the hospital to meet Chufeng? He’s there?”
“Yes.”
“What happened to Chufeng? He didn’t attend my ceremony last night, could it be… ”
Tang Yuanyuan’s face suddenly became pale.
“Don’t worry, Chufeng is fine too. It’s his mother. She had to undergo an operation last night. He wasn’t able to attend your ceremony because he had to take care of his mother. He thus told me to pass the gift to you.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about this last night?”
“If I told you about it, would you be able to focus on your ceremony?”
Zhong Chufeng did specially remind Yuchi Yishu not to tell Tang Yuanyuan about this matter. He said that Yuanyuan was a girl who was loyal to her friends, and if she knew about it, she would definitely not be able to enjoy her ceremony.
That was why Yuchi Yishu promised Zhong Chufeng not to tell Tang Yuanyuan about it.
“My initial plan was to pay them a visit at the hospital after last night’s dinner.”
However, it was pouring heavily after dinner and the roads were all flooded. The heavy rain even went on for a very long time.
“Oh, so Chufeng’s mother is sick? Then Chufeng must’ve been very sad last night when he was alone at the hospital with his mother! Let’s go to the hospital immediately.”
When they arrived at the hospital. Yuchi Yishu instantly sent a text to Zhong Chufeng.
‘I’m here.’
After finding a parking spot, Yuchi Yishu brought Yuanyuan to wait at the entrance of the hospital.
A few minutes later, they saw Zhong Chufeng’s figure.
Zhong Chufeng’s gaze paused for a moment when it met Tang Yuanyuan, and he walked awkwardly toward Yuchi Yishu and Tang Yuanyuan. Glaring at Yuchi Yishu, he said, “Why did you bring her along? Didn’t you promise me…”
“Chufeng!” Tang Yuanyuan interrupted his sentence and said with a serious expression. “How could you do this to me?”
Zhong Chufeng was confused. “What did I do to you?”
“Your mother has been admitted to the hospital! How could you not tell me about it? Although it was my coming-of-age ceremony the day before, it wasn’t held for the whole day. If you had informed me about this earlier, we could’ve come to pay your mother a visit yesterday afternoon, and you wouldn’t have to stay here all alone.”
Yuanyuan was serious when she said that, and her facial features looked tense.
“Chufeng, how could you do this to me?”
Zhong Chufeng was taken aback by her words. “I’m sorry, it was my bad. Yuanyuan, don’t be angry, I just wanted you to enjoy your ceremony, and I didn’t want to distract you from it.”
“The coming-of-age ceremony was indeed important, but your matter is important too! This must not happen again next time.”
Yuanyuan was still seriously teaching him a lesson.
