Once in the car, Veronica Murphy leaned against Matthew Kings’ shoulder, and he allowed her to wrap her arms around his neck, providing her with a comfortable embrace as she fell asleep. It seemed that sleeping in this position made her feel more at ease.
His slender, jade-like fingers gently stroked her dark hair. “Tell me, what did you experience today?”
Veronica Murphy rested her head on his lap, closed her eyes, and held his hand with one hand as she murmured, “After the crew fell into the water, two people pulled me out from the bottom of the lake and took me to a secluded corner of Blue Star Lake where there were no surveillance cameras. They put me in their car and left the film and television city. However, on the way, I insisted on using the bathroom, so a woman accompanied me. I took the opportunity to knock her out and sent a message to Blue Shu using my phone. But before I could escape, they found me and brought me back.”
“Why didn’t you send me a message?”
The man keenly sensed something and lowered his head, looking at Little Roni who was lying on his lap, questioning her. There was a thick displeasure in his tone.
As her husband, he naturally wasn’t happy that his wife didn’t send him a message when she was in danger. The corners of Veronica Murphy’s mouth twitched, and her eyes darted around. “I was too busy asking Blue Shu to inform the director. I was afraid things would get out of hand.”
In reality, Veronica Murphy was indeed worried that Sam Symons wouldn’t be able to find her and would cause a commotion.
And another important reason was that Veronica Murphy didn’t want Matthew Kings to know the truth. “Your life is more important than any role. If this happens again, you don’t have to act anymore!”

Previously, he referred to Eviette Robins as ‘Wanxing’, but now he used her full name. Veronica Murphy’s eyes flickered with a hint of light as she nodded. “Yes, I did.”
“I will get an explanation for this matter.”
Matthew Kings patted her head and said, “Take a nap, you’ve had a long day.”
He casually grabbed a blanket from behind and covered Veronica Murphy with it, coaxing her to sleep like a child. Perhaps due to a busy day, Veronica Murphy was truly exhausted.
After arriving in Lothen, Veronica Murphy continued to sleep soundly. He carried her upstairs and settled her in the hotel room, making sure she was covered with blankets and turning on the air conditioning before leaving the room. At the door, Matthew Kings instructed Thomas Ritter, “Stay here and watch over her.”
“Yes, boss,” Thomas Ritter nodded and stood guard outside the room. Matthew Kings exchanged a glance with Troy Ritter, and the two of them left, taking the elevator downstairs.
Inside the elevator, Matthew Kings instructed Troy Ritter, “Immediately investigate and find out who harmed Roni.”
Troy Ritter looked puzzled, “Didn’t the young lady say it was Miss Robins?”
“She’s lying.”
“What? Lying?” Troy Ritter was completely confused, not knowing which detail went wrong. Or rather, how did their boss know that the young lady was lying?
