Following an incident in the company, Matthew Kings held a three-hour-long high-level meeting in the afternoon. Throughout the meeting, everyone’s phones were switched off, causing them to miss several important calls. When Matthew finished the meeting and returned to his office, he discovered over a dozen missed calls, as well as numerous WhatsApp messages and voice calls. The calls were from Miguel Lynch, Caleb Shaw, Lan Shu, and others. A sense of foreboding washed over him, and his heart started racing.
Suddenly, the office door swung open with a bang. Miguel Lynch rushed in, demanding to know why Matthew hadn’t answered the phone. Just as Matthew dialed Miguel’s number, his own phone began to ring. He looked at the screen and saw Matthew Kings’ number flashing. The two exchanged glances.
“What’s wrong? Has something happened to Roni?” Matthew asked, feeling an intense intuition that Veronica Murphy had encountered an accident.
Miguel Lynch appeared serious. Although Matthew wanted to question him about why he hadn’t answered the phone, Miguel’s panicked expression prevented him from doing so. He couldn’t help but offer some reassurance, “Yes, but don’t worry too much. Veronica has always been lucky. Taciturn prick has sent people to search for her, and Troy Ritter has gone with them.”
“What exactly happened?” Matthew was only concerned about the key point. “Did Roni go missing?”
“She was filming on set, fell into the water, and then mysteriously disappeared. I found out that the crew searched for Veronica Murphy for several hours but couldn’t find her,” Miguel Lynch revealed without any concealment. “Then Lan Shu called me and said she received a mysterious message claiming to be from Veronica Murphy. The message stated that she was safe and asked the director not to search for her anymore.”
“Have they traced the origin of the phone number?” Matthew inquired. Miguel Lynch shook his head. “No, but we have dispatched people to search for all suspicious vehicles in the film and television city.” Suddenly, he remembered something and added, “By the way, Lan Shu informed me that Veronica Murphy was targeted by someone within the crew. The investigation is still ongoing.”
While Miguel was still speaking, Matthew had already bypassed him and walked out of the office directly. The anxious man hurried down to the negative second floor and swiftly drove away from the underground parking lot.
Fortunately, Miguel was quick to react and managed to get into his car before Matthew started the engine; otherwise, he would have been left behind in a cloud of dust..
The car raced along at high speed, sliding on the snowy road, which frightened Miguel Lynch. He quickly fastened his seatbelt and said, “Take it easy, take it easy. I haven’t bought insurance yet, and I haven’t even been with a woman in my entire life. Don’t you dare let me die in your hands!”
Miguel Lynch tightly gripped the seatbelt and occasionally adjusted his glasses. “Since Veronica sent a message to Blue Shu, she must be fine.”
“But what if she didn’t send that message?”
“That’s highly unlikely.” Miguel Lynch patiently analyzed the situation for Matthew. “Think about it, Veronica Murphy fell into the water while filming on set, with dozens of people present. If she fell into the water without struggling, what does that mean? It means there must be someone underwater.”
“It also means she might have died in the water, and someone with malicious intent sent the message to Blue Shu.”
“Are you out of your mind?” Frustrated, Miguel Lynch kicked the driver’s seat where Matthew was sitting. “Back at Mount Chillad, there was a flash flood. Veronica Murphy and that masked mysterious person fell into the rushing water, and she came out unscathed. Do you really think she would die just by falling into the water?”
